God of War [PS4, PC]

Anything on the bloody gory matter of the series ? has it been toned down from previous entries ?
one detail i miss from the E32016 reveal trailer is the laval splatter marks left from the enemies on kratos . I don't know if it's still present.
can't wait to see all the particle effects bursting on screen.

GoW is already the highest selling game of the year on amazon and it's not even out yet.

Even the standard version is unavailable for pre-order.

This game is gonna sell a lot in the US but I'm curious how it performs outside of the US. Traditionally GoW doesn't sell as well outside of the US, but this one seems more accessible and the review scores are incredibly good.

Sold out on Amazon France and crazy demand many retailer broke street date. People doing queue in France for buying the game in a retailer selling the game before release date...

Yup that's a district in Paris where retailers often sell games few days before official release but people sometimes are willing to pay 80 to 100 € to play a week before.
I remember going there to that store when GTA V was released. some people even payed 120 € to play the game just like 4 days before release date. Copies of games usually come from belgium or UK.
Game is also sould out on gamestop it seems i read somewhere. I beliueve game will probably hit a million copies by the end of the week lol.

I mean I knew the game would be successful, but I'm starting to think this game is going to be a massive global success and will easily be the biggest GoW in the series. This is a reboot done right... SSM nailed it. They deserve the success.

This poster at ERA seems to work for Gamestop.

I can say this much, GOW has destroyed whatever Gamestop was projecting. Reserves are 200%+ to its reserve goal.

Labo on the other had is really trending blow exceptions and there just isn't enough awareness of it. COULD seem some traction if it gets popular on youtube and twitch but right now I don't see it doing well to start off with.
I can say this much. The reserves from gamestop are way ahead of Monster Hunter and Far Cry 5.

Another poster, 'Benji', who also works in retail says that it's going to be massive, too. April NPD will be very interesting.

This game would rock even without Sony 1st party visuals.

Graphics are very impressive, but more importantly, wide array of content offerings, combat options/enjoyment and interesting story is what is keeping me glued to the screen. Sadly during work week I have very little time left for gaming.

edit - SunhiLegend from Era will soon start cranking new impressive GIFs :)

Astonishing visuals and we're not even in photomode yet.

Sold out in Amazon Germany all editions...
Benji at ERA:
So, it's possible GoW may face some wide spread shortages at launch. Depends what sell through is like but shipments don't look like they are equaling what demand will be imo

Also the GoW Pro is pretry limited all things considered. Wide spread sell outs likely within 48 hours

Mat Piscatella from NPD/ERA:
The retail shortage issue seems to be happening more and more.

Instead of realizing that digital is incremental, lots of folks still think some kind of shift is happening and retail is being caught short on a number of titles so far this year. The data is pretty clear about this, retail out of stocks shouldn't really be as big a problem as it is. But it'll be handwaved away as "a good problem to have" while they lose sales. Bummer.

So, I think we can go to high confidence that GoW will be the biggest exclusive launch on PS4 so far. Only question is how high is the sky.

EDIT - Just thought about how April data won't be releasing until May 22nd. Over a month to go. Sigh.

I don't think I've ever seen software have shortages... this is crazy.

Metacritic PS4 only - God of War is currently #2 best reviewed game on PS4, only behind GTAV.
Metacritic GoW vs All games - God of War has surpassed The Last of Us [both on PS3 and remaster on PS4], and it is placed just behind Halo 2, GT 3 and Red Dead Redemption [all of them are MC 95, same as GoW].
Metacritic GoW vs PS3 - Only six PS3 games have better reviews than God of War - RDR1, LittleBigPlanet, Arkham City, Uncharted 2, GTA5 and GTA4.

More reviews are expected to come in the following weeks. MC 95 is almost guaranteed, small chance remains for 96.

Just received my copy today (early) from Amazon and well... Damn! The graphics are on a whole other level of quality and detail. As a diehard PC loyalist, I have never seen this much amount of detail (AND I MEAN DETAIL) in any game, including PC. It's almost hard to describe the level of detail that's kept (meaning; what once was reserved for offline rendering, is actually present - in real-time - for Kratos and cast) while playing Kratos, his son, and/or what opponents you face. The online video's, even the 4K ones, don't come close to actually conveying all the world details (i.e., lighting, shadowing, geometry, gpu particles, etc.) within God of War. IQ wise, of course it can't compete with the sampling levels which a high-end PC can provide. However, where it does compete and even surpasses anything that I have played on PC, is the staggering amount of gorgeous shaders/textures and the ungodly levels of lighting when interacting with the environment (the mist/fog lighting interactions is Booty-full, I mean beautiful). Just WOW, I mean GOW....

5/5

watched the final boss fight and ending on youtube, it was really really good.
Hair and beards are very convincing and well animated.
clothes are good too. And the one cut thing works amazingly well.

Cory Barlog reacts to the review scores. Guy seems like such a good dude.

You can just tell they put their heart and soul into this game.

This game is gonna be a monster. All the praise and success is well deserved.

Congrats SSM.

My buddy paid $100CAD for an early copy and describes it as a non stop orgasm and maybe the best game he has ever played. He isn't even a big PS guy... he owned a 360 before.

My copy probably won't arrive until next week; can't wait to jump in.
