Despite the amazing work done on this game I feel it is not gonna get enough love and thats partly due to PD's inconsistency.
In the past GT represented a very full package, an unmatched attention to detail, almost the perfect game for consoles.
In the recent years though, the franchise has been an inconsistent product in terms of quality and content. Competing games tend to represent better that consistent quality and complete package the gamer was used to expect from GT.

It is understandable that GTS' focus is the thrill and art of racing. But it will undoubtedly be compared with features from Forza and PC. There is no clear feature where it sits at the top. PC2 and F7 have their areas where they excel. GT doesn't have a clear advantage in an area.
Gone is advantage in car quantity, dynamic weather and day time. It has yet to reach the level of damage detail in other games (visually and/or in handling). Car sounds although improved still need work. The tracks are fewer.

Is it still the case that only a few tracks can be played in VR? I read that a while ago and, if true, I have to agree with Nesh.

I remember when GT5 launched: everyone was giddy over the car porn that we'd seen in previews, with its unprecedented level of detail. Then, a short while before release, it was revealed that something like 70 of its 750 cars were receiving that attention to detail. Consistency matters, and if it's lacking, I'm of the opinion that people should do things properly or not at all.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go and do bugger all.

A steady drip of new content is a smart way to keep your title relevant in the news and fresh for players over an extended period of time. Besides, a limited number of tracks done properly for VR is better than all the tracks done for VR because it’s a bullet point on a list.

Fair point. I've not really followed PD's work for a while - having been disappointed by GT5, whilst only being a casual racing fan in the first place - but are you confident that they'll update GTS such that all tracks are VR enabled?

Like you, I bought and was underwhelmed by GT5 and never even saw GT6 so I’m on the periphery. I also don’t have any interest in online gaming so one of the great strengths of GTS in “esports” is lost on me. I still enjoyed Drive Club though, without using any online features and am somewhat relying on the update track record of both DC and previous GT games to expect more after launch.

That said, no, I do not see all tracks going VR until they release a VR only game/upgrade or they find a way to do their esport racing both online and in VR. I hadn’t really thought about that combination before but I imagine it would turn heads.

But it is better that you are consistent with the quality and have enough content from the start. THEN steadily add content.

That and VR races are limited to one on one races. Within those limitations though, I've read the VR implementation is quite good.

Yeah. That would most likely lead to the initial release not emphasizing the VR mode more than just an enhancement or bonus. I suppose they could release a ~$20 VR only mode with just three tracks but I would guess it’s just a sidenote.

What GT Series always had had over the competition - certainly on consoles - is the quality of the actual driving, but the package also always has been quite extensive and complete. What had been lacking for a bit was racing rather than driving aspects, but both GT5 and GT6 have had amazing support after launch and just kept getting better and better.

I think part of the reason why GT Sport is a smaller game is because this time they are not bringing over nearly as much existing content.

The only game that came close or better as far as driving was concerned was some cars in Asseto Corsa but that game was almost a joke in terms of content in comparison. I will leave other comparison’s for other threads. Driving GT in VR is a dream of mine though and while a shame it is not the full thing yet, I’ll take what I can get. Only downside is I’ll be needing a new wheel and perhaps a playseat. That’ll set me back between 500-600 ... :S

I dunno if you know about this: http://cronusmax.com/

(credit goes to the poster who shared this earlier in the thread, sorry I forget who)

I'm hoping this will allow me to use my DFGT wheel.
