They don't, the donate module and the tally there is a separate component to the subscriptions.

Uhm how do I know if I have a recurrent subscription? Can't remember how I did it last time.

The initial yearly subs weren't recurring, so you subbed once in 2015 and it didn't recur in 2016 or 2017 (my mistake, I should have set that up). You can change subscriber level at any time though, so if you subscribe again today it will recur at the end of the period (yearly or monthly).
