I think remember it was in one of the rumor / inside infos , but my memory could well be wrong. ( i see APU are set to be launch at H2 ). So i could have maybe mix a bit both infos.

There are now several shops listing 8C Ryzen SKU's from both USA and Europe.

£480 for 8C16T top model seems to be very good! Cheapest Ryzen 7 1700 8C??T is listed at around £310 with 3.7GHz frequency and 65W TDP.
BTW it also looks like reviewers are starting to get test samples! Can't wait for more performance numbers as prices are in line if not better to what I wished for. If Ryzen does well in variety of benchmarks then I'm going back to AMD!

I'm starting to get interested in the Ricin range. For its own sake and also because somebody needs to kick Intel out of their slumber.
They've done well on the perf/Watt metric but otherwise improvements have been marginal. They've also gotten way too comfy, selling dual cores with HT as i7s?

Looking forward for news on details like ECC support and how well hypervisors will work with the AMD equivalents of VT-D.
If performance is as good as it looks to be and no show-stopping disadvantages materialize, there may well be a raisin in my future PC.

It shouldn't be too hard to turn that into an ARM chip by replacing the instruction decoder I guess.

The flagship AMD Ryzen R7-1800X would get SKU code "YD180XBCAEWOF," and is listed for USD $490.29.
The AMD Ryzen R7-1700X (YD170XBCAEWOF) is listed at $381.72.
Then there is the AMD Ryzen R7-1700 (YD1700BBAEBOX), with 65W TDP, which is priced at $316.59.

So why would I buy an X version at 95w TDP instead of the 65W version, apart from a minimal clock boost. The Intel 95w distinguished themselves by be in the K unlocked versions.

AMD Ryzen Won't Get Dedicated Windows 7 Drivers But Is fully Supported

A while ago we posted a news item that AMD would be fabbing specific Windows 7 drivers based on a report from computerbase. As it turns out, that is not the case. Ryzen processors however are supported and working on Windows 7.

Considering that the Ryzen 8-core parts do not have an Integrated GPU, it actually could make sense. It is AMD themselves that confirmed this rumor, AMD also states that they have tested and validated Ryzen processors on a variety of operating systems, including Windows 7.

"To achieve the highest confidence in the performance of our AMD Ryzen desktop processors (formerly code-named "Summit Ridge"), AMD validated them across two different OS generations, Windows 7 and 10," AMD said in a statement. "However, only support and drivers for Windows 10 will be provided in AMD Ryzen desktop processor production parts," the company added. Last August, Microsoft said that Intel’s Kaby Lake and AMD’s Ryzen chips will officially be supported only under the company’s flagship Windows 10 operating system.
