Technical feasability of PS3Portable

you wouldn't need a 42Wh battery however since your now powering a 12 inch high res screen. You'd be pushing a 5.6inch 1080p screen.

I think you're overestimating the amount of power you save in going to a smaller screen.

You would only need to get 3+ hours of battery life and if sony got with the times and just put a usb c plug for charging there are a myriad of charging solutions for on the go that didn't exist or were just emerging when the vita came out. I got a 20,000 mah battery pack from amazon for $22 bucks last week. So I mean I dunno how many times a person will play a portable for 3 hours where they can't plug it in to charge or connect it to a battery pack.

What do you think is going to happen with the NX if the rumors are true it will kill battery pretty fast

You got a 20Ah battery pack? You sure you don't mean Wh? I assume you mean something like this: https://www.amazon.com/PS-Vita-Portable-Charger-Sony/dp/B006JKARP8?ie=UTF8&ref_=cm_cr_pr_product_top But most people don't want to use an external battery pack with a gaming handheld. Or they certainly don't want to have to.

And even then at 10W you'd last two hours on a 20Wh battery.. and I doubt a portable PS3 would only consume 10W total.

10W is also some pretty serious heat for such a small form factor, you'd probably need active cooling and ventilation.

I may be , I can get an extra hour or so out of my surface pro 2 by reducing the brightness of my screen.

I have this battery pack btw

https://www.amazon.com/LQM®-20000mA...69855271&sr=1-59&keywords=20000mah+power+bank

Its about the same size of my note 5 but maybe 2 or 2.5 times the thickness . I use it at Disney or when I'm camping. I also have a smaller one that is around 6700mah and I got it for $10 during a sale leading up to Christmas. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Y2PX4U2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm not saying you have to use it. I'm just saying that if you want longer play sessions you can always attach one. Thats why you don't need more than 3 hours or so which is about what the original 3ds would last playing games

Sony can't even make a non portable ps3 that isn't just a ps3. They won't be able to make one that's mobile. They can easily make a portal handheld that is miles ahead of the ps3 tho.

Sony and Nvidia could probably hugely shrink PS3 but it's doubtful if there is an existing market that subsidise the costs of such a machine. Sony revise console designs for cost reasons and cost reasons alone.

I think it would be too much trouble and require too much in licensing ip costs. What would be better is to port all the ps3 games to be compatible with a new architecture, but that would require inordinate man power.
