Overwatch [PC] Blizzard

Playing on a macbook pro that's not built for gaming and having a lot of fun with it. I initially tried it on console and didn't have a good feeling about it. PC play is much faster and more frantic. Was skeptical about getting it, but the game is fantastic. Putting way more hours into it than I thought I would.

I like playing Pharah, Roadhog, Soldier 76, McCree, Zaria, Reinhardt.

Played some more today.. :)

Their shaders/lighting is really surprising me. I can't believe how well implemented their PBR/AO and dynamic local light sources are. They also are using SSR rather frequently. I'm constantly surprised at how beautiful the levels look. The art direction in this game is stellar!

On my Titan X, I'm averaging low 50fps, high 40s @ 4k with everything on MAX. I'm noticing they saved some render time with the models though. Mostly everything is low res polys unfortunately.. and it seems like there is little to no multitexturing for layered textures and it still looks good!

Excellent game. Having a blast!

The low res poly model probably comes from the fact that they are recycled from the old Titan project, which is (was) a MMO.
I play it on my 970 SLI machine, getting 60fps@4k with ultra setting. I didn't try getting everything max though (it pushes both cards over 80C constantly already).

I mostly play Roadhog. He's not a very good tank (you'll want to have another tank in the team, either the gorilla or the shield guy), but I think it's pretty fun to be able to hook and instant kill some squishy units. Defensively I mostly play bastion or the dwarf.

So many sore losers on last night. Man that was irritating.

I'm doing about 100fps @1080p medium settings on a GeForce 660

Considering dropping it lower to see if I can go all the way up to 144.

Symmetra. She has to be the least played hero, and she dominates. Any time I've run into a team with a Symmetra, she swings the game.

Indeed, the respawn timer is so short that if she has a teleporter up you will almost always be outnumbered. Still, if you diligently clean up her trash she is reduced to just being a major nuisance.

If she places her turrets well, they can do serious damage. On top of that, her gun is very powerful. Very deceptive. Probably requires a good player, but with a well located teleporter she can make defense teams very very hard to beat.

Imo, every character can be stromg with a good player. And an excellent player can even dominate.

Having a good Symmetra in the team is so fun...I love it.

The most annoying enemy is imo Mei...her freeze is really strong when a good player uses it smart!

One of the most important characters imo is Reinhardt. Having a good Reinhardt and a good support is key imo.

Today, I'll try out Reinhardt a bit to see if I can handle him.

Some feedback:

1.) Blizzard needs to make sure, that not only multikills get the POTG. Good support players are so important and should also be praised.

2.) I think a mechanism is needed that makes sure people who make bad Hero decisions on purpose get a penalty: sometimes, we have 3-4 offensive Heros on board, but no healer or tank. And the game even puts out a red warning!

Ok, Iyou could argue, why don't you vhange yourself. But I already do not have an offesive hero, but a defensive one: changing is does not a solution to make the team more balanced. Of course, the game is lost and basically in no time.

3.) Bring people to play the objectives more. Although this game is already quite good in this regard, could still be better: It is really bad to see a Bastian going turret right before the red zone instead of helping to capture the zone. Or two Widows camping from afar and standing still when we try to capture the last zone and only 3sec left!

I've been surprised reading this thread that most of you guys are character specialists. I actually think it's much better to play all the characters badly than a few very well. As with MOBAs you really need to play a character a bit to understand how to play with and against them. That being said I am quite bad at the game.

It's a great formula though, because when you make some plays and win it's the most epic thing ever, and when you lose it feels rather slight--I've usually forgotten all about it in less than 2 minutes.
