Screenshots from the PC version running at 1080p, doesn't look much different than the X1 version

Maybe remedy are using temporal reconstruction on PC as well, and the resolution you choose is not the actual resolution?

Gameplay

One takeaway from this is that X1 players don't really miss anything if they don't play the PC version.

Apparently 4k runs at ~20 fps on a 980ti so it's out of the question, still looks reconstructed (so it's pretty much a confirmation that PC is using the same AA method).

"From the results we're getting it can be assumed that the game is using the same resolution reconstruction technique as on XBO. Thus when you select 1080p in game's settings what you're really getting is 720p+MSAA4x reconstructed into 1080p by a shader program. If you select 1440p you're getting something akin to 1707x960+MSAA4x reconstructed into 2560x1440 and if you're selecting 4K you're getting 2560x1440+MSAA4x reconstructed into 3840x2160."

Yeah, they went overboard.

That definitely looks better than the X1 output. First youtube video of the game I have seen that doesn't look like it was compressed 3 times over.

Probably because you can set things like volumetric lighting, shadow resolution, SS reflections, GI etc to much higher settings than the X1 version

Any results with radeons?

Volumetric lighting still seems pretty low res. I really want to play this but it seems like i'll wait it out till they fix this, i don't want perf problems to hurt the experience.

They say the Universal Windows platform causes the problems. With 59fps, it falls as strong because of the display engine which waits for the next matching refresh. Which would be 30fps then (33,3ms). While the intermediate images are dropped.

AO is also lower Resolution.

That's probably part of the reason they offer a 30fps lock option in the graphics settings. Sounds like that vsync update for UWP can't come fast enough for PC.

Yeah i figured it could definitely be the enforced vsync, i guess locking to 30 fps is the only way to go.

Microsoft should give the developers more time. Then they should equal increase the draw distance (there are many pop ups) and AO resolution etc. This seems to be low for PC standards.

Which is sad because I see (like in many other present games too) the great effort behind it.

And Remedy had a great record with PC porting as well, MP1/MP2 and AW/AW:AN were great ports with a plethora of settings to tinker. This seems like a rushed job enforced by MS (only MS store), would make more sense to give it 2-3 months.

^ Same lod distance, same AF(wtf), slightly higher res shadows, higher res volumetrics. Overall they look pretty similar from a first glance.

Last scene looks cleaner on XB1, what?

Just watching the hardline show after act one, as you have got to act 2 do you know if you can revisit the tv shows from the main menu if you accidentally or otherwise skip?

Also can you check and inspect collectables from the menu?

I have a feeling I missed a fair chunk from the first act even tho I was semi looking. I certainly only skim read most so might want to re read later.

I haven't explored the menus in detail, but there is a "journal" for each character where it seems like you can watch cut scenes or something like that. I don't know if you can view collectibles.

AMD gpus have a significant advantage on this title (makes sense X1 being GCN 1.1 and all) but frame pacing is horrible across the board, maybe they can fix this with a patch, who knows.
