Accurate human rendering in game [2014-2016]

Imo she's a bit too short. She's also the shortest human being in the entire game by quite a big margin and at that point it feels quite forced. Lara has never been extremely tall, but if I recall it right she has varied from 165cm to 185cm, but this incarnation is the shortest she has ever been. The game's camera makes sure that you don't notice it as she feels the same height as say Nathan Drake, yet for some reason they decided to make her the shortest person alive in the game when you compare her to others side by side.

If she was a little bit taller, it'd have been better I think.

Actress Camilla Luddington is allegedly 165cm (there might be few hollywood cm extra) so it makes sense if current Lara Croft is the shortest.

I doubt it matters what her height is they aren't going for a 1:1 recreation. Honestly, Lara's face itself has quite a few remarkable difference to Camilla's, let alone her body which is different too (for instance Lara is a lot bustier).

Yes the whole thing doesnt make sense, Im only talking about the face (not the body/height etc)
A. The face looks nothing like how lara has always looked, see the picture I posted above
B. The face doesnt even really look much this Camilla Luddington lady (not that thats important, as it should look like the lara croft face thats been established over the last 20 years)
Its like a double fail
Its sorta like modelling mario in the next game off this dude in the middle, sure mustaches are so 70s but still?

Actually, an ideal climber should be pretty lightweight. This should usually mean a modest height as well, but I guess reach is important as well.

Also, 165cm is kinda average for women, at least around here. Everyone in my family is shorter than that, and only a few coworkers or friends are taller than 170; on the other hand, one coworker is only 148cm. Now that's short.

The facial hairs looks "painted/drawn", not so "good"
Still it must be very hard to make hairs stick out.

Seems to be the same deal in RotTR

Same deal in Ryse (although much better than RotTR)

Witcher 3 on PC renders facial hair as tessellated geometry (if you enable nvidia hairworks) but only after Geralt reaches a certain amount of beard %

Looks like painted texture when Geralts beard is in the early stages

The only game I've seen that renders thin facial hair as actual geometry is Uncharted 4

Even the Star Citizen Mark Hamil reveal doesn't, but that's a long way off from hitting gold so we probably have to wait and see. Can anyone with insight explain why not many games are trying to do this?

FF XV [an open world RPG!] is dedicating probably too much of rendering resources on hair. :D
They actually use old good polygonal stripe rendering with some invidual strands of hair, it shouldn't be too heavy on resources. (It should work nicely with LoD as well.)

which I think is a much more sensible use of resourses than Tomb Raider´s Every-Single-Fucking-Strand-of-Hair-Has-got-To-Fucking-Be-an-Individual-Fucking-Strand-of-Hair while there are so much other stuff in the game that could benefit a lot more from some extra care.

Don't get me wrong Laura's hair looks amazing at times, but all other characters in game have some serious helmet hair!

Let's wait for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided where more than just one character has TressFX hair. In my opinion, Tomb Raider is too inconsistent with hair. One character has it and the others look different?
