News & Rumours: Playstation 4/ Orbis *spin*

If Remote Gaming uses PSNow, there'd be no need to have your PS4 on. You could just access your content in the cloud under your account. The reason the PS4 has to be on is because it's the server. ;)

I remember everyone questioning why they needed 2 full cores for PS4 OS.

IMHO Sony were right to ring-fence until they knew for sure it wasn't needed. At the time it wasn't 100% sure how things would pan out with Kinect on XBO but now that's just an add-on I'm sure we'll see Sony start to release some of those resources if enough devs ask for it.

That doesn't really matter. Since both use nearly identical streaming technology on the client end they could use a single portal to connect either to your own PS4 for Remote Play, or to Sony's servers for PS Now.
But very different technology on the host. Adding an intermediate server (PS Now) would add latency without any obvious benefits. Everything else is a UI issue.

PS Now wouldn't be involved there. I'm talking about a unified client UI, nothing else. Whether it's a web page or application if you click the button on the right you're connected directly to your own PS4 for Remote Play. Click the button on the left and you log into PS Now and stream from the cloud. The video stream decoding and input setup and transmission parts needed are basically identical for both technologies so why not encompass both in the same portal? Plus it gives them the ability to cross-promote both at the same time.

Happy New Year folks! I trust everyone enjoyed last night’s revelry? To help blow the cobwebs away, we’ve put together a short, sharp preview video looking ahead at what PS4 holds in store for 2016.

The montage above highlights 20 – count ’em – titles that are either full PlayStation console exclusives, or releasing on PS4 first. To my eyes at least, it’s shaping up to be one heck of a release slate.

Of course, that’s by no means all. Our third party partners are readying some huge blockbusters, such as Hitman, Dark Souls III, Mass Effect: Andromeda, Dishonored 2, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Doom and Far Cry: Primal.

And the independent community is coming out swinging too, with the likes of Broforce, Chasm, Hyper Light Drifter, Eitr, Amplitude, Heart Forth Alicia and Gang Beasts all lining up for launch, to name but a few.

Oh, and then there’s a little something called PlayStation VR on the horizon too. Excited much?

The Last Guardian!!!!!

Dreams!!!!.... beta. So now Beta's count as games too, eh?

The beta of Dreams will be available for months maybe until early 2017 game release and will be public, source twitter account of Alex Evans and Media Molecule.

Does for me, even if it is still mostly a creation tool! :p My son has the Minecraft bug and plays it with lots of friends, local multiplayer. There should be many more "games" like this!

It's mostly a disappointing time for gameplay innovation though, even more than ever. But at least there's VR coming, which could help. And it definitely seems the best line-up since the console came out.

I think PSVR will launch much earlier. Not every game under the sun needs to be launch game for it. Sony has showcased good planning with PS4 by ensuring that it has regular flow of new games, and I can see NMS being a good "launch window" game for PSVR, fuelling second or third wave of purchases.

So niche, I look forward to:

The firewatch, boundless, the witness, The tomorrow children, Dreams, No man's sky and The Last Guardian of course!

I thought No man's sky was the beta too. That was confusing; maybe they should have written the title of the right game with the Beta mention?

yeah, would have been better to maybe end with the beta - but watching it back it's clear(er) that the beta is for Dreams and that doesn't surprise me, IIRC LBP was quite a big beta

If it is not delayed GT Sport is a 2016 title and the beta is spring 2016.

Hahahahaha hahahaha hahhahahhaa hhahahahahaa

Oh, you might be serious.

Why not a 2016 title? From what I understand and heard GT Sport and The Last Guardian were showed only at E3 2015 and PGW 2015 because they wanted to minimize the risk of a delay after it is game development and everything can happen... And I am working in software development and it is never easy...

After I think if one 2016 title is delayed it might be Horizon Zero Dawn because when they showed the E3 demo in internal presentation there was a release note saying all the combat system was ready and they had some of the assets but no map at all for the moment. After I am not a specialist of game development maybe it is not important. And it was probably a few weeks before E3. For Rime they had a problem with gameplay and the game is changing a lot now and they received help from another european studio doing a PS4 exclusive... I hope Rime is a 2016 title...

After it is difficult to build some hype but ideally the best presentation would have been to talk about GT Sport and The Last Guardian when the two games are gold. Here no delay...

2016 is the end of the 5 years restructuration of Sony Japan Studios I hope they will be more efficient.

I think with two Forza's out on Xbox One, a trimmed down GT release like GT Sports is kinda overdue for the GT series ... :p GT4 Prologue and GT:HD both came sooner into the lifecycle I think.

Out with the old and in with the new. I really despise these mega theads as they make it extremely difficult to find whats being searched on, so I will be pruning things down by creating new 2016 editions.
