Officially a thing (the WCCF leak in the Maxwell discussion thread was pretty wide of the mark, at least for the reference design). GM206 with 25% of the SMMs disabled, in 90W.

I'll try and do a @fellix and collect other links and update this post as I see them (or the master himself can do it!).

It's too big. I was hoping it would have the size of the gtx750 or gtx650 (but those had Gxx07 chips).
I guess Nvidia had no options since it's roughly the same architecture and process node as the last generation.
I hope the rumours that GM207 will appear on Sept 1 are true.

The release of the GTX 950 also bumped the retail price of the 2GB GTX 750Ti down to a very affordable $119. That makes the 750Ti the NVidia card with the highest FLOPS/dollar. Admittedly that ratio is pretty constant between 9 and 10 GFlops/$ for the whole Maxwell range.

The EVGA card is huge specifically, some others just slightly less big but quite evidently the makes took an existing custom GTX 960 model and put the 950 GPU on it.
Short single fan models are available too (still double slot and full height if that bothers you)

Given the low power draw a big card isn't too much of an issue imo : the thermal footprint is low. Old micro-ATX case and 300W PSU work with it.
