I asked the author from the Examiner rumor for his source's track record and this was his response:
http://www.examiner.com/article/rumo...rew-at-e3-2013
http://www.examiner.com/article/firs...-flag-surfaces

I checked both articles and yep: he was the first confirming the name for AC:BF and the first screenshot came from him if I didn't mix things up:

And his confirmation on "The Crew" was also right:

Well sounds like their is at least some history of rumors being proven right. At least this rumor should have the same cred as the down clock rumors which some people still believe.

This should at least dispel the whole "this rumor is only fanboys wishing" type thing.

Ekim, while he was right on those, he could be wrong for this one. But at least he has credit in the past. To say the least.

One thing of note: some developers could have been queried while others were not. The ones stating that the rumors are bogus could possibly never received a query from MS. That's how it would be possible for both sources to be right. Have fun!

New article with another supposed source. This one says upclock yay 12GB RAM nay.

http://www.examiner.com/article/xbo...gher-clock-speed-but-doubtful-on-increase-ram

Source doesn't make much sense, in one breath the RAM is too slow to make use of 12GB except in 2nd screen gaming, in the next Respawn was pushing for more RAM for Titanfall.

Not sure what makes this shadowy websites source more legitimate than say, Interference's, but ok. I guess this one is acceptable to post on Neogaf (despite just playing off rumors that originated here)
The part that makes no sense is the part about the speed of the RAM. As though DDR3 becomes slower the more you have. More means more stuff resident in memory, and more possibilities.

so his source must be at ubisoft. Those are both Ubisoft games.

not a first party so maybe their info lags a bit? Edit: As to why they might know of clock increase but not supposed RAM increase.

How much clock increase are we talking about?
I think less than 900 would be a non-story, while 1000 would be a big deal, and not exactly impossible.

75 to 100 MHz. It's not going to change the nature of the beast, but it's always better than nothing! What I'd want to investigate, if true, is why the difference in clocks between XB1 and PS4. But that's too technical and sensible for this thread. ;)

All the bad ones for Xbox,. of course!

The Examiner guy's source is not in any way linked to B3D that I know of.

I also happen to know of interference and eastmen's sources, and they're at least decent (especially the former). Overall there are now three separate sources (counting examiner guy's source) that at least seem to hint something is bubbling (and both interference and examiner initially disbelieved, these are hardly Xbots, but were surprised when their contacts came back that the rumors had some apparent validity). I wouldn't necessarily bet against 8GB/800/1.6, still though. Which, is better than a downclock.

It's July 10. The end of these rumors and confirmed final specs (at least through leaks), can only come down to time, and we should certainly know by November, which is 4 months, not really that long.

You do remember that the rumor that about PS4 memory increase to 8GB was shot down too and not many are putting much faith in a PS4 clock increase which was rumored. Not believing in last minute changes shouldn't be interpreted as hate for MS.

It would cost some, simply?

Also they've got that huge case and blower, and less GPU. No internal PSU.

People are unsatisfied in the main because either their expectations were unrealistic, or console wars. I think people will be happy when they see what is possible for themselves. The system is a good'n.

but that big blower on X1 maybe because MS want to make a true Whisper Quiete Xbox 1.
Maybe PS4 are louder, and getting more loud on long gaming session.

ah too many "maybe" :(

There are variable power states. It could be louder still for games and be as quiet as ever for TV/Movies and other stuff.

it would need to be at least 1200Mhz for parity... interms of ops/cycle.

but 1000 works well enough.

You cannot validate again chips that are likely to be already soldered.

You can overclock the GPU, but to what price?
Do you need to OV the chip, at least a bit, to sustain i.e. 800->875/900 change in a stable way across most/all samples?

In that case, don't they risk to replace quite a number of ps4/xb1 over the time?
