It's higher than last years Black ops pre orders.

Are you sure? I dont think so.

I was under the impression from reading LOLchartz as theyre known on neogaf, that a game might sell typically around 2x it's predorders on launch day (it may vary?).

And I'm quite sure Black Ops sold a lot more than 2.5m day one. Even allowing that BF3 should rack up a lot more preorders in the two months till launch, they dont strike me as great numbers.

During the Citi 2011 Tech Conference on Wednesday, September 7, Electronic Arts CFO Eric Brown announced that Battlefield 3 pre-orders have hit around the 1.25 million mark, and are tracking ahead of previous Battlefield games.

“To date we have about 1.25 million preorders on Battlefield 3, so it’s still well ahead of its predecessor title, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, in regards to preorders in the same number of weeks till launch,” he said during the conference, which was listened to by Gamasutra. “So it’s doing very well.”

For comparison and reference, Bad Company 2 moved 5 million units as of May 2011 across all formats. The firm also plans on spending oodles on marketing, and has plenty set aside for its budget.

Hm interesting...5 million units sold?!
I can remember that I once saw an online statistic of BC2 where there are 2mio players for each system (PS3, Xbox360, PC) registered...which would result in a total of 6mio players!!

So why the difference between 5 mio and 6mio...is it the used copy market, piracy, multi login, something else...or the combination of all this?

Battlefield 3 sales estimates up to 11m for first year

Analyst firm Cowen & Company is raising its first-year sales estimates for EA's Battlefield 3 from 8 million to 11 million.

The game, already benefiting from an extensive marketing campaign ahead of the October release, is seeing pre-order's "roughly comparable" to last's year's Call of Duty: Black Ops - a title that has so far sold over 20 million units worldwide.

Yeah I expect it will do 8-10m, something like that, a solid hit.

I expect MW3 to perhaps ship as much as 30 million and surpass black ops handily.

It's PC though as par for the course.

Does look amazing. if BF3 sells well Dice will have proved working on your PC version beyond console port status can have a halo effect.

Supposedly leaked 360 footage.

The first two vids look pretty bad, par or below the PS3 version seems, but the quality is so bad it can only be watched in postage stamp size so hard to say.

Third vid "destro" looks better, shows destruction.

4th vid has jet fighting.

Quality is low on all.

I know some people are waiting for the title with bated breath. They have played all the 7-8 (may be more ?) BF games before BF3.

Accurate in what way? I'm still not sure who exactly you're fighting in this game or why you're fighting them.
