PlayStation Plus.

I noticed this in the Head's up post on the EU blog today, is useful to know:

We’ll make Plus content ALL available at the start of every month, I believe the US may release their content gradually over the month, though I could be wrong

Correct. On the US blog, they stated that Plus content would spread throughout the month. They have posted the 4 free games this month (for July) and game trial. Aug content will not begin until Aug 4th. I think people are confused that they were getting June content, and then July content on top of that.

Fieldrunners? A two-year old iPhone game? Seriously?

I own neither an iPhone, nor an iPod touch or an iPad. So, yes, seriously. Not everyone is into useless gadgets that don't serve a purpose outside of tech porn. iPod nano is enough for me, and I'll gladly take Fieldrunners on my superior PSP or PS3.

Fieldrunners is a mini, I believe. So it's probably not _the_ free game of the month, but one of them.

Yep, it's a Minis game that can play on both PS3 and PSP. It's slightly improved over the original, but I don't think that's really very important.

...shows they have confidence in the product I guess.

Ummm, not necessarily. Say the average repair of a PS3 is around $150, then if only 1 in 4 dies in that 2 years, they are in profit. I'm not knocking insurance at all, but it is primarily a money-making exercise. At a 10% failure rate, 100 people signing up to the 2-year insurance would net Sony $3000 in pure profit.

I'm just saying they withdrew the protection as all the phats were dying so hopefully this is confirmation that slims are more reliable

BTW, EU get the RUSE demo a week early for PS+ members

I thought the purpose of playstation plus was to offer additional content to those willing to pay extra. Not trying to sell a subscription by withholding demo's. The demo is supposed to sell me onto the game, not anything else.

If they start pulling this crap so soon, I wonder where we'll be a year from now.

I agree !

Most likely dropped subscriptions and going no where, unless they have other stuff up their sleeves.

I have already recouped nearly all the outlay through free games. As long as they keep this up we won't see an end to PSN+

Ha ha, I downloaded WipeOut and 1-2 Qore episodes from it so far. Didn't get into Hulu+ preview. The other freebies are nice but they are not so important to me. I don't have time to play everything. The titles I want are usually not discounted. Most likely dropping it when the one year term is up. Will continue to buy PSN titles selectively like I used to, if there's nothing else.

It's rather stupid that the premium service doesn't really reward people who already are deeply invested in PSN. I own Wipeout, I own the expansion, last year was I buying a game a week from PSN. So far it really hasn't offered me much, and it's especially ridiculous that there's avatars (i.e. gamerpics) that are only available to be bought by PSN+ people.
