Image Quality and Framebuffer Speculations for WIP/alpha/beta/E3 games *Read the first post*

PC beta is ~1.55GB in size when installed. Here is a breakdown of content.

Sound files ~880MB
Menu files ~50MB
Level ~180MB
Wepon stuff etc ~190MB
Videos ~200MB

And the rest is small files for game engine and other game stuff.

thanks.

hmmmm, interesting, so it's the audio. yeah, this makes sense considering all the explosions, noise muffling going on. really stunning stuff just as the first game.

I'm either completely inept at searching through PSN or the PSN Store doesn't have the demo at the moment.

If you have an EU id then you can get it from there, its available.

Speaking of custom AA, how many samples of MSAA should be the closest resemblance to it.

I believe AvP 360 is 1152x648. Custom AA indeed...

I am wodnering if they use custom AA for PC version to (DX9 demo only). It looks very clean yet no MSAA as I cant brute force it on, changing exe name wont make the game launch and no ATI custom profile.

some screenshots with edges and silhouettes with skin/metal vs dark background.

Ah ok, I'll have to check that later... :)

bullshot quality :p It's hard to say really.

Is it my eyes or do I see no A2C transparency on PS3 version ?

For BFBC2? Yeah, it's really strange. The only real reason to use A2C instead of alpha test is if you're using MSAA, but 360 definitely isn't using it. Was wondering if repi could clarify why they're using A2C.

Hm.... a good question. Based on your screen captures though, I'd say no AA; it's the very low frequency of lighting and colours hiding the jaggies. If you're able to find a game quickly, check out the crates or the vehicle where there is sufficient room lighting.

Yes I noticed that, the crates & bits of cardboard boxes lying here & there have noticeable amount of aliasing when directly in front of lighting. But then some other edges are too smooth to be no AA even, even if its only due to low frequency colors.

The custom AA is somewhat variable. I've got two screen captures same crate where the AA was present in one moment and missing the next.

And actually, in the second image, you can see there is no AA at the top of the brighter metal.

Maybe it is not obvious as in the PC version for PS3. While it seems PC version uses A2C you really need to have the vegetation up your face to notice it.

Fairly near as in comparision.

Yes they seem really clean and sharp. I actually thought MSAA was enabled and assumed small bits of jaggies on strongly lit object edges where DX9 + deffered + MSAA thing.

The PS3 demo looks like that pretty much. It looks completely different on 360=bad

edit- just saw the upclose ones and I'm pretty sure PS3 demo doesn't have any signs of dithering like that.
