Image Quality and Framebuffer Speculations for WIP/alpha/beta/E3 games *Read the first post*

Polyphony sure know how to produce some pretty bullshots.

I wonder if even a 5870 could produce more than a frame a second with the quality ramped as high as it is in them shots!

one could argue that but then if you look at the 2d overlays like health bars they're perfect in their resolution with no scaling so that means the game will more or less actually look like that. i guess the last hope would be to argue that it will only be in create a character or force mode since there arent any pics in fighting mode.

There isn't a create a character mode in the game. The PS3 shot you analyzed in particular was quite bad though; blurry and off with colours. The screens I referred to earlier were those:

Given the confusion it's causing, we won't know until the game ships in about a month. Now we got a 1080p analysis with the 360 one.

ya, best is to wait for DF to do a analysis on the final game, we still have to see if they motion blur actually made it into the final version of the 360 game which was reported missing before. And Some of the PS3 shots looks very very bad, unless the game has dynamic AA / resolution.

A cursory Xbox 360 Tekken 6 analysis on DF tomorrow combined with a feature on sub-HD gaming in general, and a more indepth look at both versions on Monday. It's the most interesting/bizarre game we've looked at in ages.

heres a bunch of pictures for brutal legend, could someone enlighten me about the anti-aliasing solution in this game. outlines of objects are super smooth but interior edges are a bit more aliased.

Seems like edge blur filter.

Quick look seems like 1120x720 no AA. 360 seems to have a higher horizontal width.

edit: 720 height, still investigating horizontal.

since sub HD looks sharper, why not use go with the lower res and use 2XMSAA. More demanding than 1360X768? If the earlier analysis was correct PS3 version might be 1024x576 with 2XMSAA without motion blur...

Given that the higher resolution without MB, it's likely the engine was not designed with tiling in mind.

New FF13 trailer came up, most of the stuff in this trailer seems to be from the 360 build. to me every little bit of detail looks to be the same. (if I'm not correct, including Rez, AA and texture detail)

New, English

a majority of the scenes are re-done, but it's done well perfect and you could only tell if you stacked them up against each other.

what captivates me more than anything is that both the English and Japanese builds seem to be using different animations for lip-syncing their characters..........that's impressive.

Btw, all of my comparison shots were synchronized when i took them.

I hate to do this to you man but do you have a link stating that it is from the 360 build? Because while there are differences between the trailers there is nothing indicating which platform the game-play is being run on where as the Japanese trailer was clearly from the PS3 version. The English trailer seemed to be more multiplatform friendly but there wasn't anything there that you could point to and say that it was definitely the 360.

Edit:They said for a while now that they are going to lip-sync the game for English audiences. It's great that they did. IU sends off this of poorly dubbed Kung-Fu movie type vibe because of the no lip-syncing. It would have been a shame if Square's biggest title for HD systems did the same.

I said "seems to be from the 360 build"

which means i wasn't able to confirm it....and i still can't.

i can say that the Scene at 02:17 in the Eng version does play a lot smother than in the jap version.:yep2:

it's even got some sort of distance fog too.

though my question is why did they have to re-do a lot of the cut scenes with edited button layouts?

Because removing the buttons makes the trailer "platform agnostic", so fanboys don't get pissed off^^

I have my doubts that the US version is on 360, because... why would they go into the trouble of making it happen, when they already have the stuff set up for the PS3 anyways?
