Telltale Games will be offering the first chapter of Tales of Monkey Island free for anyone to download!
Each year on September 19, brigands and scallywags round the globe rule the day on International Talk Like a Pirate Day. And what better way to mark the occasion than by jumping into the celebrated Monkey Island swashbuckling pirate games by LucasArts and Telltale!

As first impressions go, the desktop/startmenu/game explorer shortcut not working and throwing up two error messages is not exactly reassuring. Double clicking the shortcut inside the games' instalation folder did work but I haven't had time to play it yet.

ir/rational, a new puzzle game written by the writer of the Penumbra series and featuring music from Penumbra composer Mikko Tarmia. Word is: "ir/rational features a unique argument formation system that was once planned as a part of the Penumbra series, and follows a dark philosophical comedy as one man attempts to come to terms with his own rationality."

Now i know many of you will say "what in the name of God is this 8 bit game doing here" and i would not blame you.
But Passage is one of most brilliant games i played lately.

-----------------[ .kkrieger ]-----------------------

Other game that is also free is .kkrieger
Now many probably heard of this game before, but for those who didn't, its game that is only ~96KB's !
Truly amazing, considering how good it looks and how many features it have

download .kkrieger: chapter 1 beta here (96k) http://kk.kema.at/files/kkrieger-beta.zip
but remember this is a beta version, and there are a lot of known bugs. in case you have problems, you might want to have a look at the compatibility section.

.kkrieger delivers crazy graphics for being an old 96KB size demo!

I remember playing it on GF6800GS :D

BTW do you think we can have some use for Demo Scene production?
These are all about graphics and design so I think B3D deserves thread like that.
I have quite big library of interesting productions

I think so. They are great not only from a graphical and technical standpoint but also artistic.

isn't half of the people here a scener anyway?

Is it?
Which groups they belonged to? I was active on Polish Amiga and PC scene up to year 2000

Then it's done! I just need some free time to gather few screens for my first thread on B3D :devilish:

I became inactive in '99 (bad relationship) but was befriended with a lot of guys from TBL and Logic Design before that (oh .. and notorious as a Trepaan member where I was responsible for replacing 43 win.exe's at CeBit 96 - VierKaBee is a nice example of a "submission" that left an organizers system paralyzed if it had Win95 on it.. )

Demos and intros worked 100% but at the start of the program, it replaces win.ex with a dos executable, so next time you boot in Windows, you'd just get a "Windows has been Trepanated"
You'd have to run "win treelur naapert" (win trepaan ruleert = trepan rules) to restore the original and run windows... it was basically a lesson.. don't use that wincrap.

Even the serious demos (like bulll!) had this **** going on ;)

Now.. that was all fine and dandy in win95.. but you can image that it's a little more difficult to run NT4 after something like that (and basic manual deleteion deltree c:\windows\system32)
