pretty bad all round. (thats if u think 555k is bad)
hmm the xbox360 had a pricecut for 2 weeks get it sold less?
this may cause MS to reconsider cutting the arcades price to $199
on a brighter note they did go above 20% marketshare again

Wow. I was expecting a bit more out of the Wii and I was also expecting to see a little more out of the 360 considering it's "price cut". PS3 sales are back down and MGS4 is out of the top 10. So much for my own predictions. They pretty much all got shattered.

What are the NA install base totals for PS3/360? The attach rate for the two multi-platform games look to favor the Ps3 if it is still ~9:5. I guess memes are a changing.

Keep in mind the 20GB's were in limited supply and basically sold out right away with 60GB's replacing them quickly. Though does show just adding a bigger drive doesn't really have much result.

BTW remember June was 5 weeks and July is 4 weeks so 360 did increase slightly.

Wii +4% from 133k/week in June to 138k/week in July
Xbox 360 +16% 44k/week in June to 51k/week in July
PS3 -31% 81k/week in June to 56k/week in July (keep in mind MGS4 in June)

June was a 5 week month, July was not, 360 sales are up weekly, by almost 20%. Wii is about stable and PS3 are way down.

I'd say it was a pretty disappointing month all around for sales.

Ahhh, thanks for that.

I was wracking my brain trying to figure out what price cut Zed was talking about.

You're correct, the numbers show us what we should have learned some time ago. Adding value doesn't have nearly the impact on sales as pure price cuts do.

Which is why 'all' the PS3 'price cuts' didn't significantly impact their sales.

Bottom line, walk out the door pricing is what most impacts sales.

Way down would be below 360 sales, which they're not. ;)

Any evidence for this statement? Amazon still has them in stock and people in other forums are reporting them in the stores today. I think MS had (has) plenty of 20GB stock.

No, way down would be a weekly sales drop of 31%. You can choose to make mgs4 comments if you want to choose to be relevant to the discussion otherwise I think you're just adding noise.

Civ Rev PS3 numbers?

Didn't Sony slow down 40GB supply?

Did anyone seriously think that MGS4 would keep PS3 numbers that high?

well someone should tell amazon that their 20GBxb360's dont actually exist :)

http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Cons..._1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1218759342&sr=1-1

same with best buy

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8492838&st=xbox360&type=product&id=1186003685732

type in your address u should find that 20GB's are in stock in your local store.
20GBs sold out = negative

im looking forward to the various companies spin, its hopefully better than last months, which was very weak.

3 of the 6 Best Buys in my area show out of stock (including the one I often go near at work zip code is 30033 if you wish to check yourself)
As well as the Target right next door to work where I normally pick up games has been sold out.

Yeah, I see its definitely in stock at places if you wish to order it online or find out which store its at but its not in stock everywhere.

And yes the 40GB PS3 has definitely slowed down and all I've seen personally lately is the 80GB with MGS4 (Best Buy confirms as well that none of the stores near me have it either).

These links show the stock status of the items during the NPD time frame of July? Or are these from august 14Th and thus have nothing to do with the comments above.

The 20 gigs sold out at a lot of locations esp gamestops rather quickly. They normally keep 2-4 of each system in stock during the summer
