They would be stupid and irresponsible not to try to exploit the advantage they seem to have, especially given the mauling their CPU division is going to be taking for the foreseeable future.

And since they're now owned by the American company AMD, it would also be illegal not to attempt to take advantage of it. They have to maximize profits for the shareholders so they can't do things that are obviously not. This would include selling at $300 at launch or selling at $600 at launch.

What do they mean with perf increase of 1.2 over HD4750? And what's the difference between 5770 and 5750, I suppose just clocks (hopefully mem clocks, otherwise there's probably little real world difference between them).
I have trouble believing it can really achieve performance of HD4890, due to memory bandwidth limitations (I just don't see AMD using more than maybe 1.2Ghz GDDR5 on the 5770, and that is optimistic imho).

Since 5850 is at $299, I'd expect 57x0 to be in the range $170-$250. That would really squeeze margins on gt215/gtx285 etc.

There is now a real possibility that this could be AMD's conroe moment, but wrt nv. Overnight the peak perf shot through the roof while the low end parts choke it's competitors to death.

Hopefully, nv will hit back hard atleast in the next gen/shrink if not with gt300.

Maybe it's more than 800, say, 12 SIMDs?
Why would be RV870 >330mm², if it has only about 50% SIMDs more? There are four possibilities: 1. The info is incorrect :) / 2. it's 800SPs at 950MHz :???: / 3. RV870 has more than 20 SIMDs  / 4. w0mbat is right

What was the diesize of RV740?

If this a typo 5750 would be 105% 4770 (or higher, since 4750 is a bit faster than 66% 4770) and 5770 120% 4770. A very small distance for mainstream SKUs.

Actually predatory pricing is not illegal unless you have a monopoly or there is collusion involved. AMD is certainly not a monopoly and they are not conspiring with other GPU manufacturers to push one competitor out of the market so they can charge whatever they like legally. Also being owned by an foreign company wouldn't exclude them from US anti trust laws if they did business here. The AMD buyout didn't really change anything in that regard.
