Music Education Software/DVD's? Play piano, learn music theory, etc.

I want to learn to play the piano, and I also want to learn about music theory and notation so that I can compose my own music!

What's the best software or sets of DVD-videos to help me in doing this?

Your best bet is to take a few classes to get the basics and then move on to the books etc. It's very hard to grasp it 100% on your own.

I would honestly recommend you go for lessons too.

Learning by books is very difficult unless you have uber autism.

I started by teaching myself from a very simple book and after that started having professional lessons.... mind you I never really progressed past "mediocre"
