Setting Google as default search engine in IE6

For some unknown reason no longer can I type keywords into IE6's address bar and have Google search. I've tried Google's reg patch to enable it, but MSN remains the deafult. Though the seach panel open to Google, the Search options in IE6 list MSN Live Search and FreeSearch, and Google isn't an option.

Any idea what's busted my settings and how I can get Google back as the engine of choice?

I used http://www.google.com/google.reg - it odesnt allow me to choose google as Autosearch provider but typing in address bar displays google result instead of live
I would try first to register http://www.google.com/default.reg and then patch above

That's what I tried, but it didn't change IE's setting.

IE6 or 7? B/C on 7 you just click the down arrow next to the magnifying glass and click on "Find More Providers..."

EDIT: For this to work you must make the search provider the default using aforementioned down arrow and "Change Search Defaults..."
