I have a PS3 connected to a an Onkyo605 and it just flat out rocks. Not a single issue this far. And it does support 5.1 pcm. The only dislike I have with the Onkyo605 was the poor documentation on set up. It took me a couple of hours longer than I had hoped to set up. Once set up though, it has...
I think some are more sensitive to the sound of their 360 or PS3 than others. If you have a theater room with a quiet sound floor, than the noise coming from the PS3 and the 360 may be quite noticeable and is substantially higher than dedicated dvd players.
Haven't GPUs historically run much hotter than cpu's? My guess is that due to the environment GPUs typically operate in (on a PCIe card with a much smaller heatsink), they have been designed to run at much hotter temperatures. My question is what is the TDP of the cpu vs the gpu and which one...
Looks like the Inq has found a tidbit on the 65nm xboxes. It seems that the power supply will be smaller and have a different connector so that one can't accidentally plug the new power supply into a 90nm xbox. http://theinquirer.net/default.aspx
They also say it's on a "boat" heading this...
Great Q/A. Coming from the tech world, I know how hard it is to be forth coming to the consumer without giving the competition too much info. I was pleasantly surprised that he was as open as he was.
As far as the delay issues, I think the reason we are seeing a difference in his response to...
I just don't see ATI releasing a brand new architecture 9 months from R600. Since NV30 is often used as a comparison, how long was NV30's lifetime until NV40 was released? Guess I could look that up. If there is going to be a release in Q1 or even H1 of next year, it won't be a major...
You won't see boards beyond 512 bits for a long time due to the costs involved in manufacturing such a board. Take a look at the midrange cards like the 8600. Alot of folks thought midrange boards were going to move up to 256 bit, yet here they are at 128 bit again. I am sure ATI and Nvidia has...
I think a better argument from your standpoint is to show evidence of ATI's success through financial reports relating to discrete graphics chip sales as opposed to the market share statements. Market share numbers can be misleading and don't account for profitability.
I am wondering if the 65nm versions will significantly reduce heat and fan noise for both the 360 and the PS3. I suppose the majority of the 360 noise I get is from the cd rom drive which I heard they have changed. The heat though has been an issue as my 360 has locked up in a cabinet that...
I am wondering if there is going to be a way to determine which console has the 65nm chips in them. For example, some type of code on the box of the console...
Anyone know when the 65nm chips in both consoles are going to start shipping? I have an entertainment cabinet that I have to keep 9 month old hands out of and leaving these consoles out in the open is becoming dangerous. Thanks!
