Why isn't XB360 outselling PS3 in Europe? *spawn

I don't think his point was that ALL European companies have retreated from home CE devices, just that the vast majority of them have. My Grandmother used to have a GEC TV, my friend's family used to have a Baird (yep, you guessed it), and it goes on. Where are Siemens in the CE space? Where are...

    Feasibility of Cell emulation

I don't think that you could emulate it right now without SERIOUS cost restrictions. Why bother to emulate it in any case? Even if they don't want to use it as their main CPU in whatever design they have for PS4, why not use it as some sort of satellite processor, not only providing BC for...

    Apparantly the PSP2 exists.

The 15w was for a SPURS @ 65nm, and it has a lot more in the package than just 4 SPEs. I asked the question earlier in the thread, but nobody seemed to want to even give a hypothetical answer. If SPURS can give 48GFLOP @ 1.5Ghz, what would it give at 500Mhz or lower and 32nm or less, and what...

Digital Foundry Article Technical Discussion Archive [2011]

I've raised this point before, why when a game developer licences a car don't they simply get access to the original CAD models for that car to produce a polygon mesh from? Why mess around with car scanning? It's not as if the car industry didn't contribute towards computer graphics/modelling -...

Technological discussion on PS3 security and crack.*

I don't know, but even if they are, are they stored there in the efuses, and is there any way to blow some to change it without anyone knowing it has been done, and what the new configuration is? Even if done in a step by step manner.

Is there anything they can do with lvl0, somehow blowing an eFuse or two, re-encrypting a fixed lvl1 and lvl2?

    Apparantly the PSP2 exists.

I quite understand that, which goes back to the original question. How much power would a 4 SPE Cell consume on 32nm and running say at 500Mhz? You didn't provide an answer to the hypothetical question. Also, how much processing power would such a downgraded Cell provide in relation to say a...

    Apparantly the PSP2 exists.

Wasn't the whole point of Cell to provide the best bang for buck possible in terms of power per watt? The 4 SPE SPURS engine gives 48 GFLOP @ 1.5Ghz on a 65nm process. The reason I'm asking the question is that from what I've read, an ARM10 at 300Mhz delivers around 400 MIPS and 600 MFLOPS...

    Apparantly the PSP2 exists.

I'm asking this because I genuinely don't have the foggiest idea. If you took Cell and placed it on say a 32nm process, then clocked it down to 1Ghz, what would the FLOPS and power consumption be? Now do the same by removing 4 SPUs, what would we have then? What was the power consumption for...

Image Quality and Framebuffer Analysis for Available/release build Games *Read the first post*

Does MLAA make sense in a double buffer situation? As it's post process, working on a fully resolved back buffer, wouldn't RSX be sat idle while the SPUs are doing the job? If so, you wouldn't try to save RSX time would you, so the frame would take longer to compose? I'm not making statements...

And the reason that they can never use the SCE MLAA is because it's post process on the entire frame so would either require triple buffering (which they do not have the memory for and would also add extra controller lag) or the whole thing coming down to 30fps under double buffered v-sync? Is...

So the illusion is going to have the greatest affect when moving on the cockpit in that view, the bonnet in the roof view, and your car with the case camera? Does this maybe explain why the chase camera is so rigid? However, if you stop the car dead it will AA the entire scene?

Do we know what type of TAA they are using? Are they changing the sample pattern per frame? Is this even possible on RSX?
