hi,
Thanks for the file. I'll try that next time in on a NV based system. I've my ATI back in and H.264 working flawlessly (in all my applications) for now :)
I tried this on my 7800 GTX (go) with 84.12 and the Purevideo and Cyberlink codecs... couldnt see any differences in performance regardless of what software/clip/configs i used which sounds like the same results as Hanners. I guess there is a little way to go on the NV side of things (my X1k...
Thanks Komb,
Pretty much summed up a lot of what i was going to post.
Basically this whole article came from me seeing a few posts (quite poss on this site) wondering about clock for clock performance as well as some conversations i'd had with the DH owner. I was interested to see what...
Ah yes, i remember it well. One case in particular sticks out in my memory. After our reference 5700 Ultra review i received a less than calm call from NV UK's new PR bod requesting that i re-write my conclusion to be more favourable to them and demanding that i dont use TRAOD or Shadermark 2 in...

As for our (DH) comment that the X3 and X6 support 2.0b, i had...
It is a bit of a worst case scenario (rather than badly coded), yes. Thats kind of the point though, test the worst case scenario you can to see what the real benefits can be.
On a slightly different note, Tommti removed all the CPU limiting code the new stats are:
6800GT @ Ultra... 3.4fps...
The patch sent to the press by nvidia had several issues on the Radeon, a score drop doesnt surprise me.
You can see the radeon issues in detail here : http://www.driverheaven.net/articles/farcrypatch/
Yeah, its a tough call...choose one way and 50% of people get annoyed at you...choose the other option and the oposite 50% get annoyed at you. Overall it was a good read though.
ooohhhh, controversial...
"Trilinear Optimisations are left at the default "ON" position unless stated otherwise. (This setting can only be changed using NV4x GPUs). In light of the recent ATi revelations this seemed fairest."
