PS Business Briefing 2006 March official info

They have already announced downloadable content (older games at least) so HDD will be the only storage place for such data. Or 4 GB memory stick pro duos... :D

PS Business Briefing 2006 March official info

Babelfish to rescue: Concerning the specifications of PS3, it made that 60G byte HDD of 2.5 inches and Linux OS are loaded clear. In addition, we assumed that the game for PS3 makes BD-ROM entirely, arranges the system which can produce month 1000 ten thousand BD-ROM in the entire world.

The picture is taken from the newest OPM magazine and yes the pictures look better in the magazine thank you. There are lot better quality scans already available on the interweb but you are not allowed to publish them links here so I won't.

Peter Hofstee (IBM) talk on Cell

Sony owns SN Systems these days and they are AFAIK creating PS3 specific SNC compiler for ProDG Tools bunch, dunno though if such compiler already exists in some sort of alpha form.. http://www.snsys.com/

Merrill Lynch Update: PS3 BOM Approaches $900

Seeing how the PS3 manufacturing price has risen in the media during the last 8 months I wouldn't be surprised if it soon reached 2000$. http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/06/28/news_6128295.html

    Sony pisses off Korean developers

I personally think it's got a lot to do with national pride, Japanese and Korean haven't been historically in that good terms with each other. Now if I've understood even a bit right from good ol' Babelfish translations of various Korean forums they fear that "brain drain" effect will happen on...

    Sony pisses off Korean developers

Isn't this the same event that was described and threaded here already, one of the earlier thread links http://videogamerx.gamedonga.co.kr/bbs/view.php?id=vx01&no=11377 only shows pre-conference empty seats: http://www.beyond3d.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28399

    Josh Robinson's blog on PS3/XBOX360

Innards of the "PS3 review" The whole "review" is the starter topic of this thread. The hilariousness is not within his opinions but breaking developer NDAs and telling his employer "please sack me, I really want it at this point of my blossoming career".

DeanoC do you know when you get the final PS3 Harware?

Oh, PS3 was mentioned in the quoted text. Anyway the smaller power consumption of Cell should be taken into account regarding the blade server usage, not only DP float capability. Also as far as I have understood it IBM is upping the SPE DP capacity of their next iteration of Cell.

DeanoC do you know when you get the final PS3 Harware?

The calculations don't seem to take into account that there are actually 8 SPEs in Cell. If the 7 SPE decision stays in PS3 production for better yields it surely doesn't mean that blade servers utilizing Cell need to use this specific version of processor. -- Reboot -man says "yes".
