What are you playing now? [2007-2018]

    I'm playing a 7-string Les Paul.

    3DNow! = 3DGone?

Well, in case you didn't know, x86 implementations haven't been CISC under the hood since the Pentium Pro/K6 era. Since SSE and 3DNow! are from this post-CISC era of x86, I don't see why they should obey CISC design rules. The SSE solution adds less clutter to the already over-cluttered x86...

    3DNow! = 3DGone?

SSE doesn't need special NR instructions, as they can easily be constructed from regular SSE instructions, and performance and precision are comparable to 3DNow! when doing so.

    3DNow! = 3DGone?

In this case it does, I think. As for pros and cons... The main cons of 3DNow! are: - Reuse of FPU/MMX registers, rather than an independent register set, requiring state changes through FEMMS. - Registers fit only two packed floats rather than 4, so you quickly run out. I think that...

    My Intel X3100 does DX10 :)

For those who haven't seen it yet, Anandtech did a bit of GPU-overclocking in their Core i3 review: http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=3724&p=4 It actually works! It's still the same basic architecture as the X3100 that I started this topic on... but as far as I know, it...

To get an idea of how big the card will be, ie whether it will fit into my case.

    NVIDIA GF100 & Friends speculation

I do wonder though... is it an accurate mockup? As in, is this the actual reference cooler design of the new generation, so will the actual card look the same and be the same size?

    NVIDIA Fermi: Architecture discussion

Yes, I've actually stated that I was thinking about getting one, last week. Just look through my post history. And if you look through my signature, it wouldn't be the first time I've owned an ATi card either.

    NVIDIA Fermi: Architecture discussion

This isn't about Stream, it's about what the hardware is capable of. Why would I have to register to find out what the hardware is capable of? I'm simply not going to bother, and I'll just buy a competing product instead, where I know what I'm going to get. Great marketing! Wouldn't be the...

    NVIDIA Fermi: Architecture discussion

Well, there is no source. That's the point. Until I see any information from AMD directly (not Tech Report) stating otherwise, there is no IEEE-compliancy. nVidia mentions it straight-up in their official whitepaper on their own site. I expect any other IHV to do the same. If it's not in the...

I asked for official AMD documentation regarding IEEE-compliancy, and my post got deleted rather than answered.

If G92 vs R670/G200 vs R770 has taught us anything, it's not how expensive it is to make, it's how well it performs.
