Atomontage Engine - The Future Is Volumetric, Atom-Based

Actually Minecraft voxels are in fact poligonal cubes :D

    Hardware MSAA

Some of us still play older games that do support "traditional" MSAA just fine. But if it can be done just the same using any new method, then i'm fine with it. For as long as i can use FSAA in older games as well without any adverse effect.

Driver-applied MLAA on D3D9 games like GTA 4?

No it doesn't. I've only noticed a blur in one game, not sure which one that was. And even that was t even virtually near the blur of the wide or narrow tent filter.

What makes CGI effects in movies so fake in daylight?

Because they aren't doing it inrealtime, that's why. Base models yes, during production, but once everything is set and ready, they kick in ultra high detail objects and filters and set it to do the magic in offline render farms. There is just no way anything can run what we see in movies in...

Driver-applied MLAA on D3D9 games like GTA 4?

It's not perfect though, but considering it's almost free and works in any game, i really won't complain. In fact i love it! Finally AMD has put compute shaders to a good use. AVIVO transcoder is useless at best and runs on CPU most of the time, but MLAA is anything but useless.

    Evolution of FPS Renderers

Why aren't LithTech games mentioned? Blood 2 graphics were incredible at the time and later games based on LithTech Jupiter were no different (NOLF, AvP2).

Intel's new ultra mobile platform will sport a GPU. What should we expect?

Current i945 platform is not perfect but still, it seems to be powerful enough to run many rather "new games" on highest settings possible. GMA950 is not all that weak really. 1024x600 resolution is helping a bit on netbooks but still...

Is it possible to realize videogames completely hardware accelerated?

Well, some definitions aren't exactly defined and used. Take audio hardware acceleration for example. We all say it's hardware accelerated when it's not mixed by the CPU. However audio decoding itself is still done by CPU, sent to soudcard and mixed there.

Is it possible to realize videogames completely hardware accelerated?

Um, aren't they "hardware" accelerated already? Last time i checked CPU was still under "hardware" category... Also even if we say physics aren't hardware accelerated. Well they are. Through CPU...

    ATI GPU transcoding app?

It's not something AMD invented. They all do like this. You visit their webpage and it states: 2K/XP/Vista. But when you install it it fails from unknown reason. And when you start yelling at tech support they finally give you the precious info that even though Vista is supported, they don't...

    ATI GPU transcoding app?

Why would i have to dig through 5 page document if they could state that right next to the AVIVO download link? But i guess thats too hard in these days where >4GB is something compeltelly usual and where users with 64bit systems aren't some outlaws...

    ATI GPU transcoding app?

Well if they are ALL so freakin secret about 64bit compatibility... Can't they just write 3 words like "only for Vista x86?" It really takes so much resources...

    ATI GPU transcoding app?

Can someone enlighten me why highly hyped ATI Stream stuff and encoder don't support H.264 (i assume iPod and PSP profiles don't fall under that) encoding and why it's using CPU 100% and almost no GPU (jumps to 10% here and there). Thats a CPU encoder, not GPU. Not to mention WMV encoding...

S3 Graphics Chrome 400 Series Graphics Processors

I must say i'm impressed. FSAA nails it but this feature isn't intended for low end cards anyway. But if you compae it against 8500 GT, it's doing incredibly well. Especially for only 64bit bus and such low profile cooling. I just hope S3 will go a bit more agressive against competition by...

    Deneb: sneak peek...

Sorry but those scores are very dissapointing. My year and a half old E4300 @ 3,2GHz (400MHz FSB) takes 18 seconds for 1M test... though i indeed only have just 2 cores altogether But still... I really wish AMD to make a huge comeback with something of Athlon4, AthlonXP or Athlon64 style...
