51gb HD-dvd discs approved for production

I thought some HD-DVD transfers lacked uncompressed audio due to lack of space.

Paramount to unleash tons of HD DVD *exclusive* titles!

Dell uses Blu-ray as well and I think they are still the biggest PC manufacturer.

Paramount to unleash tons of HD DVD *exclusive* titles!

Which is exactly what Microsoft wants. They want to monopolize the HD digital download market and use the to replace both HD-DVD and Blu-ray.

What price would the XBOX 360 HD DVD player have to be for you to buy it? (USDollars)

I agree, it's a hack job at best. They should have just built it into the 360 to start with.

Certain 360 games to require HDD??

I think MS made a huge mistake by not having a hard drive in the core system and by not having a next gen optical drive.

    Futurists: Both Formats Will Grow

With the recent announcements of retailers dumping HD-DVD, I think we will just have one format soon. Which is what HD needs to move forward and compete against regular ole DVD.

    Adobe Blu-ray authoring workflow

I can't wait till I can do this with a $99 burner and included software. Probably another year or two, I'm guessing.

An untold story about HD-DVD: HD-DVD disc costs 1.5 as much

Part of the problem may also be those crappy HD-DVD\DVD combo discs that cost $5-$10 more. Also Blu-ray is cranking out a lot more movies these days and I'm sure some of the are "value" titles that go for less. I've seen a lot of sales on Amazon as well. These are either payed for promotions...

Blockbuster chooses Blu-ray only for expanded rental availablity

Yeah, I think I am going to wait. I'm betting this stuff will be even cheaper around Xmas. I could also beg for it as a present or something.

Blockbuster chooses Blu-ray only for expanded rental availablity

Good luck to you. I was talking to my wife about the deal at Best But. 40" Sony LCD + PS3 60GB + Blu-ray movie + PS3 game = $2089 I was not able to make a convincing argument.

    Blu-ray has 70% of 1st qtr sales?

In the other thread about Blockbuster it seems that quoted the same 70% number as the original article here. I guess it was not just a fluke.

Blockbuster chooses Blu-ray only for expanded rental availablity

Well at least this should make it a lot easier for those who have been waiting to see which format will win. If you go into your local Blockbuster and all they have is Blu-ray, it makes the choice pretty easy. Besides the 70% sales lead quoted in the article. I bet bunch of people rented...

Radeon HD 2000 series family launch... so what happend?

Yeah, it's one thing to piss off a bunch of computer nerds in their parents basements  It's another story when you tick off your investors. I have a feeling that the next investor update will hold more information than anything we will hear on the tech side.

    Rumor of Universal going neutral:

Actually "Joe consumer" may be more concerned that they can't buy Fox, Disney and Sony movies on HD-DVD and if Universal makes the trip over I think that would pretty much end the format war. Of course "Joe Consumer" would have to own a nice HDTV and be willing to pay $20 instead of $10 for...
