Microtransactions: the Future of Games? (LootBoxes and Gambling)

What I don't understand is this. Forza has always been the type of game where you have to grind to get things. Nothing previously could be skipped to get it early on all previous versions of forza. So essentially what you are saying is, you buy DLC with a bunch of new cars, but you need to use...

Microtransactions: the Future of Games? (LootBoxes and Gambling)

All of this is referred to as Freemium games, where there's micro transactions scattered throughout the game. this is prevalent on iOS. People are freaking out about nothing providing the pay walls aren't going to prevent a player from playing the game. What is supposed to occur is that the...

Realtime frame interpolation upscaling 30fps to 60fps

Could be possible to use some sort of motion prediction. I've seen this used in online games to smooth out movement. I'm curious though, are the new consoles capable of frame interpolation natively? perhaps it was a factor in both sony and MS not going with more powerful graphics hardware lol

Understanding XB1's internal memory bandwidth *spawn

You found the link for what I read a while back, although I could swear it was on another gaming website. Still it's a pretty big advantage of being able to use up to 7.5 gigs and vastly differs from what is being spread about the web (mainly at neogaf to be honest).

Understanding XB1's internal memory bandwidth *spawn

One thing, about the 5GB talk, someone at Microsoft already commented in the press, that games can use more then 5GB. I'm pretty sure MS already stated that they could go up to a maximum of 7.5GB, which would mean some resident apps would have to be suspended if a game required that much memory...

Why is MS not supporting Media Centre with XB1? *spawn

why should they support media centers? Windows media center is pretty much gone. With anyone being able to develop apps or games for the platform as an indie. I wonder what the chances are of seeing XBMC? If I could get that, I would be incredibly happy.

Xbox One (Durango) Technical hardware investigation

Seems a bit weird, that you want to discuss the merits of a rumor without mentioning its a rumor ;) wouldn't discussing the viability of something involve all facets of it being plausible or not?

News & Rumors: Xbox One (codename Durango)

Yield problems were a rumor that started on neogaf, spread around the internet, only to return there as a plausible fact. No basis for that rumor at all.

Either Im totally delusional or this is the inspiration of durango's design.

Wow that's some interesting patent investigation. I'm not sure all the connections you are making are really there, but this is interesting: If you can effectively create 2 - 4 times the bandwidth with compression, that is a serious big win on two fronts if it can be made to be automatic.

Xbox One (Durango) Technical hardware investigation

At peak... but true. well we actually don't know how hungry these parts are do we? you just reminded me of something. What if this relates to quality of service functionality. If one chip fails you still could do everything on the single APU, but at a lower frame rate or lower resolution.

Two CPU socket motherboards are often called "Dual mainboard". The new poster actually said that instead of dual "main board(s)" meaning two separate motherboards as you are referring to it. I'm not saying i believe this rumor, but its fun to speculate. 1. We heard rumors of the 720 being two...

Xbox One (Durango) Technical hardware investigation

Well one thing the DME's are supposed be transparent for the most part, aren't they? if you look at the MS patents, they say the components are connected by a single ( Communication fabric ). Not sure what that is but MS did hire a bunch of engineers to design something interesting. We still...

Xbox One (Durango) Technical hardware investigation

nothing wrong with speculating. Ive been wondering if this too could be possible. (Two APU's) although there's patents that MS filed that basically say the same. There was rumors of something not like cross fire, but a system designed to split up rendering duties where each GPU would render...
