Intel license more PowerVR - codenamed Eurasia

Is this Series 5, 6 or a new MBX incarnation? http://www.imgtec.com/News/Release/index.asp?ID=247

    Power VR 5

Something is happening at PowerVR. I'm not sure what it is but something's going on. I know a few of the investors have suddenly taken a bit more of an interest this last week. Perhaps they're gearing up to some sort of announcement. Details on the chip for Sega perhaps?

    PowerVR Series5

What are you basing that on?

SIS Xaber II, PowerVR Series 5(Kyro??), S3 Columbia?

Matrox weren't really a licensee. NEC had the license. Matrox just bought the chips (infact, the whole boards) off them.

PowerVR Series 5 to debut in 2003 using 0.13u

That's not exactly what he said. You've taken specifics when none were given. In that article all the talk was intentionally kept as general, with a lot of 'coulds' and 'mights' type thing. If you go back and read the article you'll see that you are presuming some things that certainly...

    Anything new on KyroIII?

My point was that they no longer need to rely on the PC segment to create the money. They have other products in other segments bringing the cash in.

    Anything new on KyroIII?

I would say that ImgTec now have enough high profile partners in other markets (Hitatchi, ARM, STM (they're still in it for set top) to ensure the future survival of the company. Meta and MBX (possibly combined?) are two VERY important products for the whole industry, so I'm sure these companies...

A thought on X-Box 2 and Creative Labs.

Not if it comes as a large compromise to future performance or price.

STM pulls the plug on Kyro

I'd guess a buyer will be announced this month sometime and possible they will announce Series 4 along with it. But I still do not understand why this announcement was made if they were already in discussions with people. It was obviously going to hurt ImgTec A LOT, so why not hold off the...

STM pulls the plug on Kyro

The problem will be getting someone to finalise and produce the chips. I suppose if all else fails PowerVR themselves could source out the manufacture, but this would not sit well with the IP Licensing structure they have, and would simply make them the same as nVidia, ATI etc. It's fairly...

STM pulls the plug on Kyro

Agreed. That would shove them into the integrated chipset ideal, which is never going to get anywhere near high end. I'm certain this wouldn't happen, it wouldn't exactly be what a IP Licensing company would be looking to do and would probably be considered as a devolutionary step. The only...
