    NPD January 2008

One problem with this is that its generally a small number of people that buy most of the games. I am pretty sure that the PS3 is doing worse sw #s even when compared to the 360 at the same time.

    MSI sucks!

Honestly, if you need to look at reviews like that those $80 headphones are probably fine for you. It isn't a rating of how good the product is, it is a rating of how happy the consumers were with it.

    MSI sucks!

If you are looking at a relatively low percent of low scores, then there usually isn't a problem. You have to look out for things that are consistently rated bad, not something that has 500 good ratings and 20 bad ones.

    Legacy gaming box

Very few that I have seen fit my criteria. The small ones don't have video cards, the large ones are huge and the money I save will be made up for in a year of power. I really don't want to be doing that for every older game I have. I figured that I could either set up a legacy box that...

    Hmm... Maybe a VM then....

    Legacy gaming box

I had problems getting MechWarrior 2 to work. I looked around on the net, but it seemed like a lot of other people were having the same problems. This isn't just DOSbox though. Apparently the newer architecture has problems running games designed for 16 bit rendering and causes banding and...

    Legacy gaming box

Just out of curiosity, why? All of the MicroATX slim cases come with a PSU, and I seriously doubt I am going to be pushing even a 275w PSU with what I am putting in there. As far as I can tell, I am looking at a 45w cpu, 35w Video Card, maybe 30w MB, 10w HDD and not a lot else.

    Legacy gaming box

Since I have been hearing that the newer cards look like crap running 16 bit games, I am thinking about setting up a legacy box so things like Deus Ex, Thief, System Shock and other legacy games look great, as well as setting up a dos or win95 OS to take care of issues with games that never...

    MSI sucks!

Newegg is useful if a product has a large number of reviews and you take out the lowest ones.

Blog: "If you don't know how compilers work, then you don't know how computers work"

So I guess that getting on board of a project doing compiler design my first semester was a good choice?

Does anybody know how welel an E8200 will OC with the original cooler?

From what I have read, the standard overclock with an aftermarket cooler is in the high 3's to low 4's range.

Best way to manage your OS ?

From what I have heard, Vista is slower per application but scales better to running multiple applications. Gaming is basically running a single app, so it is worse for gaming.

*Spin off* Bill of Materials and Cost/Price Reductions of Current Consoles

How much of the PS3's price drop has been cost reduction and how much has been Sony bleeding money? From their recent losses, I am guessing that it has been more fo the second (in which case they are in no position to make any more agressive cuts).

    SCEA announces holiday sales figures (PSP: 1.4m, PS2: 1.3m, PS3: 1.2m)

The problem is that a lot of those games aren't necessarily going to move systems with the casuals. MGS4 is a hardcore game; every thread about it ends up in a weird discussion about why Ocelot can channel Liquid Snake and all the other weird crap, and the game's popularity has been going down...

The International Grading System Cheat Sheet

Complex is not quite the word. In my last semester, I don't think I listened to a single lecture in my computer engineering course, didn't study at all for the tests and, like half the class, got an A. In my Com Sci class I pulled multiple all nighters, was at every lab/lecture and I got an A-...
