Doom 3: Why is Radeon X800 Series behind GeForce6?

Hi there, we got our article translated: http://www.3dcenter.org/artikel/2004/07-30_english.php Feedback is very welcome but please keep in mind I didn't write the thing. ;) Thanks to Arne (aths) for his work. :D 93, -Sascha.rb

"An interview with Richard Huddy & Kevin Strange

Yup, Wavey's comment's the best so far. Cheers! :D I'm looking forward to the next interview. Here's hoping they'll drop some of the marketing speak. I got 9 pages of flack from our German readers @ 3dcenter for "allowing this marketing drivel to get published," and I don't really need any...

    Bored.....

LOL Good one. True, working out has lost a lot of appeal, nowadays. :( 93, -Sascha.rb P.S. Not as if I was working out. You know. Err. *cough*

    GeForce FX 6800Ultra -previews thread

OK, our articles are up, too: NV40 inside: http://www.3dcenter.org/artikel/nv40_technik/index_e.php sorry for the, err, quirky language, but I had very little time proof-reading aths's original English version. ;) Benchmarks and Preview...

DirectX Next - Longhorn only !?

Depending on your MS-Office set-up, it will mark documents you've printed out as "changed" and hence -> save. The bloke probably just took a hardcopy of it, and hit all OK buttons that popped up. Regarding the slides, or rather comments, themselves: they are just notes for the presentator...

    nV40 info w/ benchmarks

A translation is in the works; should be done in a couple of days. But, really, it's just one of our usual collected speculation articles (we've been doing such pieces since the year 2000). It's not as if we strapped down Vivoli and tortured the final specs out of his prone body or something. ;)...

    1024*768 is faster than 640*480

According to this review, DX:IW runs very, very slow at 1024x768, and still doesn't run smooth at 640x480. That's with a ATI 9800TX and 2.8GHz P4 (HT). Might be that 512MB of system RAM isn't enough, but still ... 93, -Sascha.rb

    ATI Filter tricks at 3Dcenter

Re: ATI Filter cheats at 3Dcenter Damn. Only just seen this thread. Oh my. Folks, this article is NOT about filtering "cheats". Far from it. It's a theoretical / technical analysis of filtering behaviour on ATI hardware. I personally don't agree with all of aths's conclusions, but said...

    Futuremark Announces Patch for 3DMark03

Exactly. I work in PR on my day job (ok, we prefer to call it "marketing and communications" ;)), and the way NV handled the past couple of months seems to me like a number of people will be looking for new jobs come next quarter. Accidents DO happen, but everything concerning Futuremark has...

    Futuremark Announces Patch for 3DMark03

Hmmm. What does "resetting" mean? Are particle effects always, completely, random? Or do you have to reboot your system? O.o Weird. Why would anyone implement an IQ test using scenes that heavily feature random elements? :? 93, -Sascha.rb

    Futuremark Announces Patch for 3DMark03

Hi Damien, Thank you! That's all wrapped up, then. Well, unless somebody comes up with the GPU World Conspiracy Theory (tm), once more. i.e. "no, that's not ALL [company] did with their latest [product], they actively disabled [IHV 1]'s [stupid marketing term] to make [IHV 1] look worse than...

    Futuremark Announces Patch for 3DMark03

Hi zeckensack, Guess where I got it from--right, this thread here. ;) Sorry, should have added a link. Agreed. I wouldn't be surprised if, in the end, it all came down to petty semantics ... 93, -Sascha.rb

    Futuremark Announces Patch for 3DMark03

Have a look at that NV document called "Unified Compiler Technology" (IIRC) and search for "intrinsic code". And weep. ;) 93, -Sascha.rb
