An Nvidia console from Microsoft would be an interesting and bold move but I'm skeptical it happens. I just don't see Nvidia caring enough about the console market to deliver a chip that competes economically with whatever AMD can. The only thing I could see is if MS sold Nvidia on the idea...

Yeah except new console development costs money and I don't think developers want a load of target specs. This is more or less what Phil Spencer said.

I honestly don't think the game industry can cope with rapidly changing install bases these days. Games take to long to make. I mean there are still games coming out for PS4/Xbox One. I don't think they want a million different target specs either. There's been a really slow start with this...

ehhh 8" 16:9 screen with integrated first party traditional controller will be superior to a phone + whatever. I like this on the ergonomics alone. Don't have to worry about specs, storage. Theoretically lighter, theoretically good battery life(though Sony can scrimp on it and dualsense...

I mean I sort of get why they did this with RDR. BC of this game on Xbox sort of limits total potential sales. Switch is not overly powerful enough handle a remaster. And by just targeting the PS4 it then hits all PS consoles.

Right but you do this with the internal storage....not game cartridges. There are only really 2 directions here imo: 1. Mandatory install for physical games so every game is running off the internal storage. This way the cartridges used are the bare minimum just to say a physical option...

If something costs even $5 more and you sell 2 million physical units that's $10M dollars lost. This is why discs won over cartridges years and years ago. And why digital is winning over discs today. No one wants any extra costs. I think Switch 2 cartridges will be only be marginally different...

As far I can tell there are have been no games released on a 64GB Switch cartridge and only about ~10 or so games released on a 32GB cartridge( Witcher 3, Tears of the Kingdom + other games released in Japan). Vast majority are released on 16Gb or less and just require downloading the rest...

Weren't publishers resistant/slow even going to 32-64GB Switch cards because of the cost eating into their margins? I doubt there can be much of an upgrade in this area. These cards have to be really cheap.
