I'm tired of that old drama queen.
the fate of Nintendo does NOT rest on the DS.
no more than the fate of Nintendo rested on the Virtual Boy.
no matter how important DS might seem to be.
Nintendo would never put all of its eggs in one basket.
the fate of Nintendo rests more on...
NV2A, I believe, also lacks the new (then new) FSAA unit that the NV25 got.
Isn't the NV2A ment to have slightly difference/longer Vertex Shader instructions than either the NV20 (GeForce3) or NV25 (GeForce4) ?
Overall, the NV25 has higher performance and more features than NV2A...
PS2 being compatable with the PSX is the first time a console has been backward compatable in say a decade or so, but certainly not the first time.
NEC SuperGrafx (PC-Engine2) was compatable with PC-Engine games
Genesis was compatable with Master System games
Atari 7800 was compatable with...
Actually that may not be the best comparasion, since both PC video cards and XBox are both capable of 3D graphics and pixel shading, where as Saturn was NOT capable of producing true 3D textured polygons like Model 2 was.
Still, any XBox version of Doom3 will be watered down.

It's been done before.
NEC's PC Engine of 1987 (1989 in the U.S. as TG16) was released in 1990 as the PC Engine GT / Turbo Express portable. it played the very same games as the console.
back when Dolphin was still in development in 1999, after PS2 specs had been revealed, I read every web page about Dolphin that I could find. one Dolphin website in particular (forgot which one) said that IBM's Gekko CPU was making some "extrodinary advances", that it was already blowing the...
back in early 2000, I switched from using a Webtv for internet access to Dreamcast using 56K dialup. it made a huge difference in being able to surf MUCH faster than with Webtv. 2-3x faster, at least, and that was before I put in a different initial string codes, which speeds up web page...
