Let me do a consideration: if really the cloud compute thing is useful in improving realtime graphics, than Microsoft would have done a tech demo on it. Instead, the only thing we got it's Drive Avatar, which is great, but it's not realtime graphics. So, it may help the game overall, but i don't...
They have done some customization at the command processor. But overall, the interview doesn't put Xbox One in a better light. Going on the territory of bandwidth figure fight, doesn't seem a good idea. They may hit an higher figure than Ps4 but with more effort and only with some payload. And...
With display panels and dynamic resolution, even when the game ships we will talk endlessly about the real resolution. So Yerli can say what he wants
I see as the opposite. We will have more info soon, but it's safe to believe that Mantle is much more similar to Xbox One API and PS4 API than DirectX 11.1. Once a multiplatform engine is made for those two API, I think it will be a small effort to move it on Mantle.
What if AMD start selling...
It still has 300+ GB/s. Brute forcing it's a possibility. And since we are talking about a long term commitment on this API, I expect that future AMD architectures will have some form of on-die SRAM.
To me it's pretty obvious that Nvidia will work on their own API. Their roadmap kind of imply it.Maxwell should integrate Denver cores, while Volta stacked DRAM. How can you expose this kind of innovation to devs? How can you stay competitive with AMD if you are wasting transistors on something...
What is Mantle?
A cross-platform low-level API that exposes all GCN architecture features and improves performance.

Developer thoughts...
It means that most workloads are not ALU bound, so there is always a certain amount of CUs which will idle. They think that esram could be the key to achieve an higher utilization of this 12 CUs (i.e less latency than DRAM).
I expect a bit more than a regular gamepad. They have been working over innovative ways to interact with games for few years, maybe we will see the results on Friday. I don't expect a Kinect, but more like an "emotional-reader" gamepad.
Where did you heard that? I can't find it on the expreview page.
The current architecture for a CU is 4 SIMD 16-way wide, for a total of 64 ALUs per CU.
The change you are suggesting is a huge one (SIMD 64-way wide) and not likely at all.
I think there is a lot of confusion because...
True. Infact it seems that most of the custom work done by Sony over the GNC IP is to increase efficiency and utilizations of the 18 CUs (more ACEs, multiple queues).
Overall, I think it will never be so clear, even in multiplatform title, which has the graphics lead. And considering the...
