3D Artists/Experts help me spot the diferences :p (Uncharted render)

Well I've put a comment there voicing Rich's concern and trying to clear up what he said.

3D Artists/Experts help me spot the diferences :p (Uncharted render)

Hey Rich, how confident are you that the final in-game look will be close to (or same as?) the old trailer we've seen at E3? I've seen an interview in French with one of your programmers who has said that shaders had to be downgraded a bit in the early build compared to that trailer. Looking...

    Wikipedia announces hd-dvd in x360 ?

You are linking to old, and false edit of Wikipedia. If you go forward in the history a bit, you'll see that X360's drive also doubles as a toaster and that Jenna Jameson loves HDDVD sex. The most up to date page is this and has no mention of any that...

So, the RSX can do AA or HDR... but not both?

Some demos definitely had HDR + FSAA, as we were told they had HDR (besides it being obviously present) and had pretty obvious antialiasing as well. They probably used SSAA? That's actually what makes me think 2x SSAA might be a viable solution.

So, the RSX can do AA or HDR... but not both?

I wonder how much of an impact 2xSSAA (just 2x) would have on a HDR rendered picture on G70? After all is said and done could that be the best solution for it? Also, am I right in my observation that MSAA doesn't help any with pixel shaded effects aliasing? Is it really on G70? Does anyone...

So, the RSX can do AA or HDR... but not both?

Some thoughs about AA. - Now that I finally have a decent video card (Ati 9800), I think that with higher resolutions like 1280x1024, even 2X AA does a nice job, even on my LCD monitor where I can see every single pixel, and I'm sitting close to it. I'd imagine on a TV where everything always...

    RSX: 1.1 billion vertices/sec?

Not per frame, but per second. Game that renders say 1000 polygons per frame, will display 30000 polys/sec if a game is running at 30FPS game, and 60000 polys/sec if the game is running at 60FPS. That's what I meant. Exactly, so if you take an example of a game that renders a car using 1000...

    RSX: 1.1 billion vertices/sec?

I don't think there's a game that came even close to that. The highest I've ever heard was about half of that figure. There are games on PS2 that have a lot more polys on cars than GT4. I forgot the numbers but I think resident devs can chime in on this. I think that one F1 game in particular...

HDR, alpha textures, and AA in next generation consoles?

Isnb't HDR supposed to be performance free on G70? Or what exactly does their 'full speed HDR' comment mean? Oh, I see. Could it be just one 7800 with SSAA? That means SSAA can be used, but MSAA can't, right? I would really like DeanoC to comment on this, as his game features HDR in huge...

HDR, alpha textures, and AA in next generation consoles?

If you look at Nvidia's Luna demo, it features HDR and it pretty obviously has AA. How is that done? MSAA on alpha seems like it's not doing anything, if you look at the test pictures at some of the sites that tested 7800. SSAA on alpha is another story though.

More info about RSX from NVIDIA

Don't you think that those mini-alus (2 flops each) should be counted too, for the total of 20 programmable flops? Or are they the same thing as SFU units which can't count as programmable? I don't know where are you getting this from my posts, I was saying that just because current GPUs have...

More info about RSX from NVIDIA

Hmm, OK. I thought he was just referring to the logic integrated in the EDRAM module. I know, but so far their architectures have been fairly simillar, so that was expectable. Not so with R500, though.

More info about RSX from NVIDIA

Where did you get that information/hint? I've never seen it mentioned that there's some kind of significant fixed functionality of that kind on R500, while Nvidia often talks about the free normals and SFU units (which is what I'm assuming you are referring to) as a significant part of their...

When Tuesday does the G70 NDA expire?

Yeah, many games suffer from this, and it's quite possibly the most annoying visual problem. I wonder if that type of AA can be used on HDR as well. What exactly is the problem/limitation with AA being used to gether with HDR? Can't you at least use AA on the 'base' picture before you merge...

Kojima: Xbox may have the most dev support next-gen

Yeah, his comments are actualy targeted to the higher level of expectations set by the Sony's trailer, more than anything. Thus his comparisions with food. He expects that everyone will now have to make the games of that caliber that look like trailers, while on Xbox 360 he's not seeing the bar...
