Starting a new job at Imagination/PowerVR

Congratulations Arun! :) @AiL David is asking! Why not PR? ;)

    TI announces OMAP5

"If they are willing" I am not sure, but I think there are many Netbooks out with the GMA500 and this have no real new driver since three years. The partner here is intel, I am not sure that they are willing, better I am sure, they are not willing! :( Ok, that was OT, excuse me!

    GLBenchmark 2.0 Results

No problem, I am very interested in PowerVRs graphic! :-) If I had a driver that works with more games, we could test more. But this "driver" from intel is crap! Ask the guys from imgtec, they have the driver to do this. ;-) But I am sure you will see the same result on all games. Here...

    GLBenchmark 2.0 Results

Ok, here it is. I have made such a comparision in november 2000 in my Vivid review, you can find it here: http://www.mitrax.de/?cont=artikel&aid=34&page=11 . The both SeSa shots in 16 bit (left) and 32 bit (right). Unfortunately both are jpeg files. Here are two new shots I have made today...

    Introduction to SGX

I have never said that it will be simple! That what they doing with the actuell driver is simple! Take ever the biggest format and you can't do wrong! You can do this, if you have millions over millions of transistors and it is not important how much power you need. But if you must calculate...

    Introduction to SGX

However, the SGX must do the T&L. If you use the PowerVR driver it can do it fast, see the results from Q3A, SeSa and OGLVillageMark. AFAIK is there no special T&L detection in the PowerVR OGL driver and this driver run significantly faster. The D3D driver from intel use the same codebase as...

    Introduction to SGX

I have not sayed that the intel driver do not use TBDR, I have sayed: I can't give you a good translation, but let us say it should be read as "it seems that they not using it correct". I know that there is a better driver today, if only for Linux, I don't know. The newer driver is better...

    Introduction to SGX

It's nice, but have you read this one: http://www.imgtec.com/News/Release/index.asp?NewsID=485 I wouldn't say "mature and comprehensive" for a driver that lose three quarter of the performance. :(

    Introduction to SGX

second SGX article Thanks to Lazy8s for the link to the first article. Here on my site Deferred Power -- www.mitrax.de -- you can find a new article: http://www.mitrax.de/?cont=artikel&aid=36 . I test the GMA500 on an MSI X320 Netbook with Intel and PowerVR driver. There are two parts...

    Details on PowerVR's "USSE"?

Here are some USSE data from TI. This is a SGX530 core. Universal Scalable Shader Engine – Key Features The (USSE) is the engine core of the PowerVR SGX architecture and supports a broad range of nstructions. • Single programming model: – Multithreaded with 16 simultaneous execution threads...

Article: Inside the NVIDIA APX 2500

Yes I ask David Harold and I get this answer: I think there won't be much 3D stuff in this core, "...fast scalable anti-aliased vector graphics enables advanced user interfaces, mapping applications, games and screensavers... (Khronos)", says it for the lower end.

Article: Inside the NVIDIA APX 2500

I don't know for sure but I think Omap3420 and 3430 both will be SGX530. The 535 is to big for this cores, there are to many transistors they don't need. 4340 I think SGX540, I can't give reason for this. And yes there is no SGX510, I have the confirmation from PowerVR.

Article: Inside the NVIDIA APX 2500

I think thats not right! All SGX cores support OpenGL 2.0, OpenGL ES 2.0 and Direct3D Mobile. AFAIK the last is something like DX7/DX8, I would say at max SM2.0. Only SGX535 is DX9 and SGX545 is Direct3D10.1. I think both cores especially made for one vendor, who need such cores for windows...

    Details on PowerVR's "USSE"?

There are two new patents in this relation. At first: SYNCHRONISATION OF EXECUTION THREADS ON A MULTI-THREADED PROCESSOR and second: PARAMETER COMPACTION IN TILE BASED RENDERING DEVICE For a better understanding what is "enhanced interleaved multithreading" and where the advantage of...

    Details on PowerVR's "USSE"?

SCALABLE MULTI-THREADED MEDIA PROCESSING ARCHITECTURE Is this public enough? :) Ok, I can't read anything over Serie 5 or SGX, but I am rather sure this is SGX.
