Correct.
When you read the SATA spec you get the impression it's just the physical layer they changed, from the OS or host side it should make no difference how you talk to the drive itself.
But... when you read all those postings on e.g. www.viaarena.com, it is a pain to get it to work...
What kind of motherboard you have ? Asus ?
Even in 2005, Microsoft XP doesn't have native support for S-ATA, not in SP1, not in SP2 even. What you need is a floppy to load the drivers from, when XP boots from CD (= install). Via offers such a floppy image with their driver package for the...
IGN is telling nonsense here. Seems like with the 2.0 firmware for the PSP, Sony will add support for playing H.264 (MPEG4 Part 10, ACV etc) encoded video files from Memorystick. So far they only allowed MPEG4 SP.
Nice touch ;-)
Didn't see it here yet, sorry if I had to dig deeper in all the topics.
Story is that it appeared on Anandtech, but was pulled later.

A Linux patch to introduce some sort of files system to communicate from the CPU to the SPU. Not really ground breaking...

From what I hear even on decent AMD64 CPUs H.264@720P is slow as hell...
As far as I know the R4xx and GF6 GPUs can't accelerate H.264 decode (though it is a MPEG4 derivative... why can't you offload some parts of it, like motion estimation...
True... the statement that for the past five years they have compiled OS X for X86 could mean that it will run, including drivers, on an off-the-shelf bread-and-butter X86 motherboard.
Hmm... let's hope they won't put code in like:
if (CPUID != "Intel" && CPUID == "AMD")
{...
Not sure... I'm more thinking that with both PS3 = Media PC & Xbox 360 = Media PC, both based on PPC, Apple was basically Intel's last chance to get into the living room. Personally I don't take efforts from companies like Dell or HP very seriously...
Jobs went for a good deal, good...
Looks professional, but how the heck can you make transparent thin plexi-glas looking tiles look like displays, with touchscreen input capabilities.
What does this have to do with Sony ??? Revolution ???
Big mistake, next year a 802.11b/g chipset "almost" comes for free. I also think it's a mistake to drop a HDMI or DVI connector, though HDMI is *expensive* (probably due to licensing costs). However, when you want to output HD to a display IMHO at resolutions above XVGA (or 720P) you need this...
True, current Dirext 9.x already supports 32-bits floating point (FP32) per component, so that's 128-bits (including alpha) per pixel...
Welcome to the hype (TM)...
Re: Peter Moore on differences between console demonstration
Ehhh..... stupid question perhaps, but if you as a developer gets the beta kits with the actual final GPU (= R500) into your hands in July can you then still be in time for a Xmas release ? Even the production takes 2 months at...
