I do think however a pure HDMI solution wouldn't limit appeal to any great deal in 2013. I too use a high end audio amp for gaming. Conrad Johnson pre amp and Naim 250 power amps. I have to use the TV audio out. Not the best solution but it works

But your component cable doesn't concert anything. A HDMI to component converter would cost much more than that. It pretty complicated electronics to do the handshaking and conversion. These things aren't cheap.

Couldn't agree more. Unless there is some desperate race to one up Sony on some spec or other which I very much doubt , all this negative rumor mongering is IMHO pretty damaging. MS show your hand and everyone can move on to sensible things like worrying about games.

The voice part might just work for you as an American but as a Brit I find it pretty poor. I guess it just shows that each manufacturer tend to focus all testing on their local market. Almost incredible in today's global economy but still seems true.

It's a box, take out the drive cages and you can put anything in it. I see no treason why it couldn't be a Dev kit. With mandatory installs for the final units an optical drive would be more or less redundant in the devkits.

Also the whole competition with each other doesn't really kick in at the start. Most of these people will either buy both or are religious about which they are going to buy. Price isn't the issue for these guys.

There is a very large amount of pent up demand for a new high end ( in their eyes) console. Those people are early adopters who don't mind paying a bit over the odds, i know I'm one. What the price is a year down the line is totally different but at the start the price while not irrelevant...
