    Direct3D feature levels discussion

All of them have optional parameters, and can be implemented badly even if they didn't. If you don't need something and it's not optional then dev sending in crap won't be helpful. I think the article wording is pretty bad around that as it makes it sound like it's a bad implementation if you...

It doesn't mandate what FSR doesn't mandate. Not every game will benefit from the optional inputs and it's for the devs to make use of them when it's worth it.

    The Intel Execution in [2024]

Would've liked to have seen battlemage by now. Entering qtr2 soon, by the time it releases could be close to next gen AMD & Nvidia. Also hope their XeSS FG is coming along nicely, but would've been nice to see it (if progress is looking good). Not heard anything about either.

Sounds a bit like how I thought it would work. Not read article but, in my scenario the game would be packaged with the DLL's. But game can use system ones if availavlable and higher version. That way you can use any of the upscalers if supported by the hardware.

Not how I would hope it works. Hope in the UI you choose implementation, and DirectSR uses the selected DLL. So DirectSR is giving you the api contract and fallback (FSR). I'd rather be able to choose between XeSS & FSR for example

Every single game you mentioned was 3P multi plat before being bought. Not saying you can't make more money on title being everywhere. But that's not the only revenue driver. 30% from 3P titles which is dependent on how many consoles you have sold for example. Gamepass is only on xbox...

Digital Foundry Article Technical Discussion [2024]

The only way an unlocked xbox works financially is if the unlock was higher tier of GP. They make the money of subs regardless if you play steam games. I'm all for a streamlined Windows gaming shell, but that's different than a cheap relatively performant console. Which isn't sold at normal...

Personally I think there's more than just exclusively, total or otherwise. But it does count for a lot. You could argue it has been partly proven. Regardless what may think of xbox, hardware is decent, gp decent, prices decent. Missed compelling mass market exclusives. That's changing though...

Got some catching up to do. But just caught end of interview on BBC news about xbox putting games on other platforms. Must be because of the Nintendo direct. But can't get more out there than bbc news. One of the questions was is it admission of defeat as it will mean less sales of the console...

Digital Foundry Article Technical Discussion [2024]

The trouble is it's not a GP issue. GP is appealing to people who have xbox. The question is how to make the console appealing. The amount of people who will buy the console just for GP isn't as big as MS & people think. Sure people want value, but they are willing to just buy games if all...

If xbox was to make one, targeted at console price range. Could make it totally unlocked for steam etc while GPU subscriber. After 10 years they all become fully unlocked and open. Not sure how people would feel about that but, kinda best of all worlds. May be largest (however they measure...

This sounds more like having a customized gaming shell. Think they should do that, regardless of making own hardware. But that's still just a PC to me. PC that can launch right into gaming shell or switch into desktop. Nothing wrong with you not buying a console. They could definitely make...

It's a definite change though. And one they need to manage going forward. Still game by game message and I don't have an issue with that, don't think most people did. When people say, "trouble is after every announcement the question is it on x platform" that's not an issue with game by game...

Only way I see that working is if you lock it to windows store & GP. People can just buy pc or portable handeld pc that's already being supported by oem's. One reason people buy console is price and that is subsidised by software. And I'm not talking just first party sales.

Think it was 2 different game types. Community (basically maxed out) Smaller So I'd guess 1. Sea of thieves 2. Grounded 3. Hi Fi Rush 4. Pentinant
