where to find a comprehensive article on HDR

But then you could just use some 64bit picture format and not HDR. HDR stores more than just colour information IIRC. So why use HDR? I mean you have 64bit tiff/tga/png or something like that (I'm not sure which format it is). Edit: didn't read all the posts so it seems... So you don't...

where to find a comprehensive article on HDR

I always read different things on different type of forums about HDR. Game sites and sites like beyond3d are usually talking about HDR as in more precise colour information and bloom, etc. But when I read on 3d modeling forums they are usually talking about using HDR for lighting purposes...

    icuiti?

As I said in an earlier post, it is suitable for mobile and digital camera applications. But as I have heared, from a researcher from a large company, that some of the companies aren't developing oleds for things like TV's. I don't think oled will be an alternative for large TV's. And there are...

true, but the economical life span will negate this win. The new carbon crt screens should use less energy than the current TFT screens. check out this article: http://news.com.com/Carbon+TVs+to+edge+out+liquid+crystal%2C+plasma/2100-1041_3-5512225.html?tag=nefd.lede

A couple of thousand hours is way short. 3000 hours would be (12 hours a day for a monitor at work) 250 days. That would mean you would have to replace your monitor every year. The economical life span would be to low. I think there will be other and better alternatives. Like the new CRT...

I thought oled has a very short life span.... I know someone who worked on oled displays and he said that they only last for about 400 hours. But that could be the larger sized screens and not the small ones.

    nVIDIA's Cg, 3Dfx's T-buffer....what do you call these ?

I would say Cg is a higher level programming language, not middleware. It's a language which can be compiled to a lower level code that can be run on a gfx card. Middleware is a framework what can be used in building applications.

Inq: Nvidia drops the NV40 and readies the NV45

Yes, but accourding to the inquirer nvidia would be adding more pipelines to the NV45 design. But I don't know if it was already planned that way.

Inq: Nvidia drops the NV40 and readies the NV45

Don't know if someone posted this in another thread. But it seems nvidia is a bit startled by the R420 and is going to move to the NV45 sooner than expected. Source: Theinquirer edit: it seems this has already been posted in the r420 thread.
