    The AMD Execution Thread [2007 - 2017]

Biggest problem with APU-s is that they lag behind discrete GPU-s by a year or even more with less performance. AMD already ditched 28nm GCN refresh for 7600,7500. The reason is for 100 percent APU-s laging behind GPU-s. If they would release a pasive half 7750 with 30-40w TDP, who the hell...

AMD: Southern Islands (7*** series) Speculation/ Rumour Thread

Also, the 123mm2 die are, 4 memory chips, and low power consumption (less complicated PCB) suggest that the cost of the card should be quite small. People doesnt realise that the 28nm shrink from the 40nm 5k-6k cards is quite a leap. While the price folows the 5k-6k-7k transition. Nvidia will...

AMD: Southern Islands (7*** series) Speculation/ Rumour Thread

It seems the whole "Fusion" gizmo is taking its price. They wont release low end GCN parts because yeah, that would kill completly the A-series CPU-s for the next 2 years today . A 30-40W GCN GPU thats much faster than the fusion part , with 70-80mm*2 die are and next gen architecture...

With 1 GHz clock its on par with 6850. Thats not much. And its even less if u think about gtx460 .

Because all 5770 users own 3 monitors, run compute software the whole day, and watch full HD videos 5 inches from monitor to see the latest invisible video improvements.

    NVIDIA Kepler speculation thread

AMD lost a lot of efficieny with CGN architecture to catch up with Fermi. With Fermi tweaks and 28nm shrink kepler could be much better than the overpriced 6970 - 7970 performance jump.

Fermi ALU-s can run on 1800+ MHz so maybe thats one of the reasons.

Why not :?: The difference betwen UVD2 and UVD3 sounds to me more like a bios update , than real hardware difference. Support for DivX and Xvid via MPEG-4 Part 2 decoding and Blu-ray 3D via MVC is for 100 percent just driver and bios update .

The 64bit GDDR5 gpu could be also a fused off juniper XT (16 ROP and 800 SP) core too. Maybe they want to get rid of the 5k radeon leftovers.

    CryENGINE 3

The motion blur was awfull. Seriously, the developers used at least once their own eyes :?: How the hell could we play sports if we would see a blury mess after each small movement.

Maybe to at least make a sense for previous 990X users to upgrade :?:.

Just not with a salvaged 8 core chip. Do you think they would break the bank if they would sell the full 8 core chips for 1K $. :?:

The best part is the price. 2 disabled cores for 990 $. Thank you AMD .

    AMD Bulldozer review thread.

I think the hard times for AMD will just come. Until now some people at least hoped for a cheap AM3 upgrade from Phenoms. Today there is zero reason to stay with AMD. When i recall they wanted to EOL the phenoms and replace them witht oversized faildozzer. What a joke. 2 billion transistor...

    AMD Bulldozer Core Patent Diagrams

Ok, but if they targeted high frequency than it could change things. They pay for waffers, so a single module at 5 GHz (and if the shared cores would reach +50% performance) could reach first class performance/die-area numbers. Even if just a single module would eat up half of the TDP budget on...
