    AMD: R9xx Speculation

I know all that....I was talking about rv9xx and not rv870. Since memory bandwidth requirements vary a lot from arch to arch, I ask if rv9xx has any chance to come up with a higher bus (higher than 256-bit).

    AMD: R9xx Speculation

I mean, maybe rv870 limitation is not on memory bandwidth but u do agree with me that a 256-bit is limited at some point dont u, a 384-bit bus would draw this limitation line further....I ask if AMD is read to replace the good old 256-bit memory bus bcuz of that...it might add rv9xx more...

    AMD: R9xx Speculation

How this appy for a full pipelined GPU ?? Does some1 has any idea ? I mean, the disvantages of a full pipelined GPU, since we have more complex units like TMUs and ROPs.

    AMD: R9xx Speculation

The memory bandwidth limitation that 256-bit has....I never said rv8xx suffers from memory limitation.

    AMD: R9xx Speculation

Ya, if branch prediction miss u have the disvantage of a pipelined approach. Now, back to topic, is AMD willing to sacrifice the small die area concept to overcome the memory bandwith limitation due the 256-bit interface ? They cannot pull another GDDR5 out of the hat again. 512-bit I think...

    AMD: R9xx Speculation

What would be the limiting factor here, why dont they break it into xxx stages and allow the instruction cycle to be executed faster plus opening room for higher clocks... Also, what would take more power, read/write in the processor cache or a instruction cycle or any other process a...

Hum, thanks....so the microarchitecture means a lot more for the power consumption than the number of transistors...

    AMD: R9xx Speculation

Its not suppose to mean we are getting there or anything like that, its suppose to mean high clocks helps: http://www.fudzilla.com/content/view/18462/1/ Look at the GPU score, my old system with 2x gtx 280 SC couldnt get that. Also, anand did a good review about core clock/shader clock...

    AMD: R9xx Speculation

How high is Larrabee's clocks suppose to be for the cores ? Radeon 5870 just broke the record for its core clock overclock at 1525 MHz stable....why cant GPUs handle core clocks as high as CPUs....Intel CPUs are in the 1.5 Billion transistors range, GPUs are not THAT far away and still cant even...

    NVIDIA Fermi: Architecture discussion

May I ask you guys whats your guess on the percentual advantage (or disadvantage) of GTX 380 over 5870 ? Of course, a little explanation of why would be good. I expect nothing more than 15%+ performance - based on history, SP Flop performance and memory bus. I cant really see the advantage...
