    Playstation VR Tracking

I've become interested in PSVR tracking again due to the following video, and I'm hoping there are some informed or knowledgeable folks out there who can provide further insight: Although I understood—hazy lay-man style—that PSVR was using sensor fusion to achieve tracking, I didn't...

Positional parallax error is my phrase, I used to call it world wobble, but I think this more accurately describes what's happening. It the same sort of issue they get in 180 and 360 3D videos when they don't "stitch" all of the views together properly. Funnily enough London Heist was the first...

Haven't been on this thread for a bit, but I've become re-energised on the whole PSVR tracking thing due to this video: Although I understood—hazy lay-man style—that PSVR was using sensor fusion to achieve tracking, I didn't appreciate what this actually meant until watching this video...

They specifically mention up-lights as being a problem, and also at events vibration affecting the camera, they say don't rest the camera on the PS4 because of vibration

Just been watching the Rebellion Battlezone Twitch Stream replay, and one of the points they mention is that lighting at events can interfere with tracking, they would be talking about HMD and DS, they also say that the tracking is quite tolerant of lighting and they don't tend to have problems...

I think we need to try and filter out not just bias, but also oddities that don't fit with the consensus of what we know, and accounts where we know the technical details are plain wrong. So the opening Reddit post just doesn't match what the consensus now seems to be, and in detail it appears...

While the PS VR looks like it has some advantages higher refresh RGB stripe Ergonomics and comfort Likely better optics (RoadToVr_Ben: Not clear yet, they are being cagey about specifics. Seems it might be a multi-element aspheric lens layout, which would be interesting as Rift and Vive are...

    Sony VR Headset/Project Morpheus/PlayStation VR

Well I'm with you, I almost always play in a dim room and I've assumed that this wouldn't be a problem for me. But ambient light in the HMD is undoubtedly a downside; however given what Sony wanted to do probably an inevitable one. Like all of the HMD makers they had to make engineering choices...

Yes, that's one of the downsides of the PSVR design. Good point. On reflection I'm sure that would have been one of the requirements, consoles vare inherently more social anyway (TV, living room), but especially once they started working on VR the Playroom.

I think you are undoubtedly correct that part of the reason that the first review team were so against Rift for comfort was that they hadn't got the HMD's on and adjusted correctly. However that in itself also shows the strength of PSVR's design, ergonomic and comfortable with little effort...
