    NVIDIA Tegra Architecture

You could look at the slide in the NV keynote and try to guess a figure for the K1 GFXBench 3.0 Manhattan score .. go on, you know you want to :)

    Kishonti GFXbench

Game developers tune their code to try and stay up at 60 FPS. Benchmark developers improve longevity (for onscreen benchmarks) by doing what they can to avoid 60 FPS. Once a benchmark is pegged at 60 FPS thanks to hardware evolution, people stop using it. Writing offscreen...

Vivendi and Activision merge to form Activision Blizzard

I would think that any game is limited by its budget - this isn't unique to PC games. In the context of PC games written by Blizzard, the budget is substantial because Blizzard has past hits supplying capital to work with. PC games written by other companies may have to fit in smaller...

    The OpenGL Pipeline 004

Nonetheless, given the DX9 API, an application writer *can choose* to develop an app that supports *their choice* of older hardware. With DX10, these choices are removed, and these choices include cards such as teh ones I mentioned.

    The OpenGL Pipeline 004

A subtle distinction when comparing DX9 and DX10 is that DX9 supports hardware many years older than its intro date (and still does). DX10 doesn't provide that kind of reach. NV7950 ? nope.. 1900XTX? nope. These aren't old or lame cards.

    The OpenGL Pipeline 004

Are either of these techniques possible on DX9-class GPU's ? Thanks for the supporting detail.

    The OpenGL Pipeline 004

One thing to keep in mind is that LP doesn't obsolete all the pre-DX10 hardware, it is going down a path that is shader-only and no fixed function, but not limited to the fourth generation shader hardware such as NV 8800 the way that DX10 is. Can you elaborate on the DX10 features you...
