More info about RSX from NVIDIA

Shouldn't the fixed resolution be 1080p on the PS3? All this talk about 1080p, surely all games will use it. ;)

More info about RSX from NVIDIA

Does that mean it can't do HDR AA?

More info about RSX from NVIDIA

Both supposedly have ~300M transistors. I agree that a lot of the PC-era stuff isn't necessary, though. Perhaps one of the reasons it hasn't taped out yet is it's on 90nm on Sony's(?) fab plants, rather than 110nm TSMC?

More info about RSX from NVIDIA

Has anyone confirmed that G70 = RSX with higher clockspeed?

More info about RSX from NVIDIA

G70 is 110nm, RSX is 90nm...isn't it? The 550MHz for RSX still seems abit optimistic to me.

RAM latency in PS3, Xbox 360

We all know the bandwidth differences by now. But what I'm interested in is the latencies. From what's being said, XDR has really low latencies, while GDDR3 (as it's based on DDR2) has much higher latencies. How does this play into Xenon's performance, given the rather small L2 1MB shared...

The Sony E3 megaton is ... Apple?

It's not the inability to come up with a reasonable low-power G5 -- it was that IBM didn't even try. The G5 is what it is because IBM could also use it in its own products -- blade servers/low-end severs. There was some incentive to the R&D involved. IBM wouldn't have much use for a...

    Confirmation on X-Box 360's OS?

It is a derivative of the Xbox OS, which is a derivative of Windows 2000's kernel.

    Xenos vs. Cell

IMO, Cell isn't nearly as significant as Sony wants people to believe. It's a niche processor design for some markets, but it's nothing spectacular. It's a miniature BlueGene in design.

Who is the biggest contributor to Cell

BlueGene is completely independent of Cell. That said, IBM did the majority of the actual development, R&D, and design of Cell. Sony funded (most of) it, Toshiba contributed some software.

First feedback on the Xbox 360 Controller

If you're not with us, you're against us? Matt is one of the more non-partisan reviewers I can think of. He grew up with Nintendo consoles and wants to see them do well, but he realizes there's great gaming experiences on other consoles, too. The prereq for being an IGN Cube editor isn't...

The Sony E3 megaton is ... Apple?

This would be anything but a huge blow to IBM. Apple's business with IBM was extremely marginal. In fact, that's one reason Apple would like to jump ship. Apple computers are more or less commodity hardware, which is something IBM has been actively getting out of over time. IBM uses its...
