The manufacturing process is likely a factor. That should affect the voltages they have to pump through their GPUs, right? many folks have had success in reducing the power consumption near pascal levels with undervolting. I assume they use higher voltage to preserve yield rather than be...
I figure some here would have good ideas on this. One reason I suspect is the difference in scheduling. I usually link people to this article

I assume later Nvidia architectures continued and improved on this. Things weren't...
There is nothing wrong with futuremark supporting fp16. they should offer it in such a way to be able to compare fp32 to 16. maybe with timespy. Its a neutral feature just as dx12. Of course how much anyone cares is dependent. they still dont support vulkan and their timespy was a bit meh. FP16...
Bound to be a weird launch with the GPU already in the wild. And whatever (driver) improvements come with rx vega will likely come to vega fe. So "faster than vega fe" is bound to be down to clocks.
its from the forum the author posts in. "Raff" is the one linked to the pcgameshardware.de site

there are further discussions beyond that post.
only a few more days. with the vega tour AMD is doing, maybe we get something before 30th. I am expecting at least significantly better performance from rx vega. too many weird results from vega fe.
not sure if posted here but on...
I think it might be pointless to discuss vega fe like it was a finished product and the current findings are representative.
my theory is AMD put out vega fe to do what it can currently do, for whatever reason. it was not ready for gaming. they didn't have whatever software supported most of...
not how it was intended. If interpreted as comment to an equal rather than someone you can make demands of, its more a casual "come on man help us out here".
and yes.
The fiji drivers thing apparently originated in december and with AMD themselves calling it something similar. Modified Fiji drivers or some such. Guessing some folks there weren't happy with that terminology then
couldnt he restate what raja has already said? even "wait for rx vega launch for...
smh. you can't just say that and not add anything. people probably weren't literally thinking fiji fallback drivers but a driver closer to previous relive than what will launch with rx vega, so even that doesn't help.
At least tell us something. for example, how old is the driver?
actually...
has anyone done any investigations on this vega fe? comparing dx11 and 12 performance, vulkan and vega in games where a major gain was seen on older hardware? async on and async off to test if that is working? things that will highlight potential dysfunction in the drivers. Or even taking a look...
PCper reported the card was dropping to lower power tiers without lowering clock speed. could be the power management is not working well currently. lvls were 280W, 240W and 200W without changing frequency (as far as they could tell). and it happened with temperature limits which is odd.
