Gabe Newell: Valve will release its own console-like PC

It just occurred to me Half-Life 3 may very well be a Steambox exclusive to kick off it's launch

    How does PS4/XOne 1 core at 1.6ghz compare to PS3 3.2Ghz & 360 3.2Ghz Xeonon cores?

Can a single Jaguar core at 1.6Ghz do more work than a single Xenon 3.2Ghz Core or Cell's 3.2Ghz CPU core with one SPE enabled. Sort of like how current gen Intel cores at slower clock speeds can do a lot more work per cycle than Pentium first gen processors at a higher clock speed? Lets also...

XBox One, PS4, DRM, and You

This is exactly why i avoid buying Digital downloads for AAA titles like "the last of us" to make sure i have a physcial copy that wont be limited by server requirements or hardware failures. I have a choice right now to go DD or not to go DD. MS on the other hand is trying to take away that...

XBox One, PS4, DRM, and You

MS wants us to accept that in the future we don't own anything and everything we think we own will be stored in the clouds. Basically does the next next generation of console become an advance version of lag free OnLive where not even the hardware is ours, maybe just an app running on our TVs...

Server based game augmentations. The transition to cloud. Really possible?

I thought maybe turn 10 was using cloud to control the Ai like an Ai playing multiplayer with you but i guess even that involves too much real time calculations so in other words they could generate these drivatars like forza 1 did locally on the original xbox

XBox One, PS4, DRM, and You

It should work like this If you have the game disc in the system you don't need a drm check if you dont have disc in the system then it does drm online check every hour. This allows the system to be disc less and if in the future these drm networks are obsolete the system will still play the...

PlayStation 4 (codename Orbis) technical hardware investigation (news and rumours)

I don't remember reading the part below in the gamasutra article but I could be wrong: The PS4 SoC has three major enhancements not found on today’s PCs (it is unclear whether at least certain of those technologies will eventually make it to the PC, but it is highly likely): The graphics...

[PS3] Metal Gear Solid 4 *spoilers*

On the topic of Metal Gear I absolutely hate MGS2!!!, I beat the original non subsistance version, and wow I was just itching for that game to end especially after the first act  Strut A,B,C can go F....ur...s...elf If I had to rank the MGS games it would go in order of...

    120hz technology in future consoles?

So can frame interpolation technology used in many 120hz TV be used by game developers as a cheap software based solution for obtaining 60fps in games on non 120hz tvs

    Bourne Conspiraccy

I really enjoyed the fighting mechanics but I thought in general the game was just too over populated with QTE sequences. If it played like Uncharted but with the Borne story and Enviorments, this game could have been incredible. The driving felt strange aswell, almost like you were locked in...

Old games that still look good today

Doom 3, still looks like it belongs on current gen consoles Shenmue 1 & 2 , although you can easilty tell it's old tech, the art assets and game mechanics feel very current if not surpassing most games today. Also I'd like to say I agree with every game listed so far, especially HL2.

The Technology of GTA IV/RDR *Rage Engine*

I think I finally understand why some would say the PS3 version looks better because artistically the blur of the PS3 image blends in nicely with the blur background/silhouette in the distance like a natural DOF, where the 360 image is clear and crisp then suddenly jarringling blurred when...

    Uncharted : Drake's Fortune*

I'm already visioning my virtual living room in HOME propped with all the artifacts :-) Yeah I know, I'm getting ahead of myself but it just seems like such a natural evolution of how achievments/artifacts should be intergrated into HOME
