My PC won't boot properly, please help

Yep, and if you have an old HD, it's free. If you are going to reformat and reinstall you really have nothing to lose at this point. 2 cables to plug in and a jumper to set. Just make sure you ground yourself by touching the case.

My PC won't boot properly, please help

It worked for me once but as I said no guarantees. Never used linux boot or fdisk (fdisk successfully) to fix a MBR but it's not like it has happened often (twice in 15 years). Nowadays (and for the last 10 years) since I have a separate partition for data, I just reformat and install when I...

Same experience here as well, recovery console has been useless for me as well.

My PC won't boot properly, please help

Just a guess here but I suspect that your master boot record is corrupt. Norton Utilities use to have a tool to repair this but there are no guarantees. Just a couple of question to see what your options are? Do you have a spare (old) hard drive that you could install as the primary drive...

    Boot Issue

I've recently experienced a boot problem with my PC. When I boot the PC after a few seconds it shuts down. Strangely, on occasion, if it makes it to loading Windows it will start up and work without a problem. I suspect this is a power supply issue but since it works fine if it gets to Windows...

Creative's latest sound card is actually pretty good.

Read something similar but I don't remember which review. Spend $145.00 Canadian. It's $139.00 locally today.

Creative's latest sound card is actually pretty good.

It's not a Live. The Platinum has something else (can't remember the name). The cheaper Neo 4 has the Live as strange as that sounds. The Platinum comes with the Fast and Giga Ethernet on board network interface, Firewire and some crappy integrated sound.

Creative's latest sound card is actually pretty good.

On board sound is terrible. I've played games with my MSI K8N Neo4 platinum on board sound. When a friend came over with his PC I could easily notice the sound on his PC that my integrated sound was not reproducing. And that was comparing it with a CL Live sound card. Picked up a X-Fi music...

Sound Blaster X-Fi vs Audigy 2

Well it sound like everyone is in agreement, X-Fi isn't worth the money unless you use headphones. Even then maybe not. Thanks for your feedback. Audigy 2 it is.

Sound Blaster X-Fi vs Audigy 2

Yes basically gaming and to listen to some music. Right now I am using the integrated chip on my MSI motherboard so virtually anything would be an improvement. You said X-Fi is a much better card. Can you actually hear a difference in sound quality and 3D sound compared to Audigy 2?

Sound Blaster X-Fi vs Audigy 2

Is the X-Fi worth the money or should I just pick up a discountinued Audigy 2?

    X1800/7800gt AA comparisons

Do we really need to go through what you have said about improving nVidia performance with driver improvements. You realize there is a search tool on the forum. http://www.beyond3d.com/forum/showthread.php?p=97373&highlight=driver#post97373...

    X1800/7800gt AA comparisons

The context is right there for everyone to see. And no optimization were made to Doom at the time but of course it "makes lots of sense". Thats the second time you have outright contradicted yourself to put nVidia in a good light and ATI in a bad one. Reminds me of the last lame response...
