Faster than the 7800GTX 256mb, slower than the 512mb GTX
X1800XL =500
7800GT =500
7800 GTX=600
X1800XT=750
7800 GTX 512mb=850
I expect ATI thinks just increasing the clock speed will yeild a big enough increase in multitexturing fill rate (they lead in pure fill rate)
The reason is quite simple. The lips on the original x800 are done in a sort of trick like manner. Her lips aren't usually anywhere near as detailed as that. Its only during that close up that they are. If you take it off the rails during that closeup the WHOLE scene dissapears, including ruby...
But ATI wins more benchmarks...
You could use the same logic to prove the 6800 ultra SLI isnt better than the X850XTPE because it looses in certain games.
Theres a difference between requiring profiles for any boost and needing profiles for the best performance
Although they're description of scissor mode for opengl games I think says works in most games, so maybe they wont have boosts in all opengl games without profiles and if Nvidia cant...
The X700XT is basically unavailable.
The X700 pro is slower than the 6660GT but is the same price
The X700 on the other hand is recommendable, being priced similar to the 6600 but offering definitly better performance. Previously it wasnt very available but that seems to be being corrected now
Those benchmark results in that are pretty tenuous :?
I would class that pdf as FUD, its quotes bad mouthing SLI are from when it didnt support a lot of games.
hmm IMO they dont
The x600 pro/9600 pro >6200 and the 9700 pro >6600 (ATI hasnt really got the X700 nps available so this is the card thats closest in price currently :P)
I guess the 6600 beats ATI by default in the PCI-E sector though, or beats the cheaper X600 pro
(actually are there...
Total sales of the x800XT PE and 6800 ultra are very likely to be comparable. Theyre pretty much tied in steams survey:
http://www.steampowered.com/status/survey.html
The 6800 ultra EE sold in the 100s I believe worldwide
As the X800s are selling well though, wouldn't they be more likely to try and stock up inventory and then both launch and have availability in may/june? (unless Nvidia turns up with a 24 pipeline nv4x before then)
It gives me an application error when I try and run it (DXTControl.exe) :( :
"The application failed to initialise properly (0xc00000135). Click on OK to terminate the application."
Thats a poor example.
The Nv40 is currently on a straight 0.13 process. 0.11 should be pretty much nothing but an increase over that, which is implied by the 6600GTs good headroom and stock speed.
The X800s on the other hand were built on 0.13 low k thus in some respects 0.11 is worse...
Not really the fx 5800 ulta was ~50% faster purely due to clock speeds. In af/fsaa it was a huge amount faster. Thats significantly larger than any of these transitions: geforceddr-->geforce 2 gts geforce 2 ultra-->geforce 3 geforce 3 ti 500--->ti 4600.
In a way the gffx was the most...
Do you mean the X800XL? The X800XT is available in quite readily for AGP
EDIT: Actually your probably right even if you were reffering to the X800XT AGP, its not that widely available although if you look around you can find them
