    PS3 hardware failure

That is correct. I learned this first hand and the hard way: my launch PS3 (60GB HW BC) was such a trooper, 3 years of flawless service, it got louder in summer and was pretty quiet in winter. The damn thing crapped out on me from one day to the other. YLoD. Tried to reflow, but the dried up...

    PS3 hardware failure

Data transfer will move copy protected data, follow these steps and you'll be fine: http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/current/settings/transferutility.html Even the infamous Demon's Souls save file can be moved this way. There ARE limitations (see link above), but none related...

I've followed Phyre since its PSSG days and I've never seen any links to Edge. I'd expect them to give credit for utilizing Edge. Edge has been put together by three first-party technology teams within Sony, the WWS Europe Advanced Technology Group, WWS America ICE team (a technology group...

PhyreEngine - New Hotness Sponsored by Sony? (moved)

Have you seen the slides for GDC'09 or the movie of their real-time demo? I'd say, they have the SPUs smoking and that's very PS3 specific.

How come? Putting all eggs into one basket is never a good idea, if you can afford to have 2-3 baskets. Oh and I'm sure that they compare notes ;)

There is no Edge code in Phyre.

PhyreEngine - New Hotness Sponsored by Sony? (moved)

Cheers, guys. I'm very intrigued by what they're doing. The RSX<->SPU stuff reminds me a lot of PS2's GS<->EE synergy. It's what enabled Killzone2's visuals, but the tech is now available to pretty much every PS3 dev. They can use the engine, just look at the source code or even copy pieces...

    Killzone 2 pre-release discussion thread

There was an interview with a SCEA guy on the PlayStation Nation Podcast and he mentioned toned down gore or something along those lines. That was months ago though and it was never mentioned again. My memory is a bit fuzzy about it. Here is the podcast, if anyone wants to verify: PS Nation...

PhyreEngine - New Hotness Sponsored by Sony? (moved)

It seems Phyre is related to PSSG (the engine that Codemasters used for DiRT). Good read: http://psinsider.e-mpire.com/index.php?categoryid=3&m_articles_articleid=722 I can't believe, that the tech is free.
